Please can you look at home for missing school books that the children have read over the year.
Library books and books with a sticker for the class book boxes are missing and we would appreciate them being returned, in readiness for September.
Thank you for you help in looking.
Mr Rotherham
We are supporting the local X Ray Appeal on Friday 1st July with a mufti day.
Children are welcomed to come to school in their own clothes for a suggested £1 donation.
Thank you for supporting our community.
Please note that as per information circulated in April https://newportjuniorschool.org.uk/parent-pay-sign-up-to-clubs-opens-tomorrow/ all club provision will end on the 1st July 2022!
Thank you to our wonderfully supportive parents and committed children who have made our club provision such a success this term.
HUGE thanks to our AMAZING NJS Staff: it really is unique for school staff to run school clubs and to offer this completely free to all families: Wow! Well done and thank you to our wonderful team.
The Autumn Term Club menu will be circulated in September.
Mrs M x
Please find the letter below explaining about our Summer Fair on Thursday 7th July at 2pm.
We rely on the kind donations you make to fill our stalls. Donations can either go to the school office or be given to the adult in charge of each stall. If you send a bag of donations in with your child to class we will be also be able to get it to where it needs to go!
As well as the stalls listed on the letter, there will also be a sale of second hand uniform, organised by the PTA
Thank you.
Last week at Karate Jacob was awarded his Yellow Belt and the award for best grading performance. Well done Jacob, we are very proud of you.
We All Have the Right to be Safe
We believe that everyone deserves a home and has the right to seek safety for themselves and their families.
Children at NJS will be marking this festival by watching some short films about young people who have taken refuge in Britain and the journey they went on to get here, completing some ‘healing’ activities together and by doing some art work inspired by the illustration below.
The illustration marking Refugee Week 2022 is by Nima Javan, a painter specialising in traditional Persian art and contemporary abstract art. Nima’s current work is inspired by ‘Persian miniatures’, using characters found in traditional paintings as well as his own creations. Originally from Quchan in North East Iran, Nima sought refuge in the UK in 2019.
We have a Commonwealth Games theme to sports days this year! Each House Team will represent a Commonwealth Country!
To confirm dates for Sports Day:
Monday 27th June: 1.30pm Year 3
Tuesday 28th June: 1.30pm Year 4
Thursday 30th June: 1.30pm Year 5
Friday 8th July: 1.30pm Year 6
On Sports Day please can children come to school in their PE kit: black/navy shorts ideally with a plain t shirt of their house colour or a plain white t shirt. They need to bring a water bottle. Please ensure children are also protected in the event of sunshine with sun cream and a hat.
Parents and carers are invited to attend for our Sports Days. The security gate in front of the office will open at 1.20pm and close at 1.30pm. Please bring your picnic blankets and deckchairs!
We are aiming to finish by 3pm and we will ask you to wait for your child at your usual collection gate where we will dismiss them (as soon as we finish but only if an adult is there to collect them otherwise we will dismiss them at 3.15pm as usual).
Sports Days are weather dependent so please do check Facebook if you are unsure about the weather on the day!
We have the photographer in school on Thursday to take Leavers Photographs: these are for Year 6 children only.
Therefore on Thursday please can Year 6 attend for school with their green jumpers NOT their Leavers Hoodies.
Thank you!
Mrs M
IMPORTANT: Apologies I made an error in this letter. To confirm the collection points will be:
Year 3: Main security gate in front of the office.
Years 4 and 5: main playground through the black gates closest to Avenue Road South
Year 6: Through the gate opposite One Dental
This is because Year 6 will be located in the new extension and Year 5 will be in the Victorian block.
Mrs M
Please find attached a letter that confirms arrangements for September and informs you of our transition day on Wednesday 29th June.
Best wishes
Mrs M

NJS made their debut performance at the Ski Club of Great Britain’s National Schools Snowsports Association race at Chill Factore in Manchester on Monday. Evan, Ewan and Zoë had a great time and did so well! Ewan in particular as it was his first time ever ski racing after only 10 lessons – what a super star!
They trained hard from 9-11:30am and warmed up for the race from 11:30-12 noon. Races took place between 1:00 and 4:00pm and the presentations finished at 5:30pm so they all had a very long day – and they coped admirably well.
Results at the end saw Zoë getting 5th for U10 girls!
A great experience for them all, especially competing against 180 skiers in total!
Well done to all three children – what a super experience!
Can you believe…. NJS has a ski team!
We were delighted that Evan, Ewan and Zoe went to compete at the Ski Club of Great Britain’s National Schools Snowsports Association race at Chill Factor in Manchester today!
