5M First Week
We have a great first two days in 5M. The children have all settled excellently and have got back into the routine of school very quickly.
So far, we have focused on our British Values. We have looked at Individual Liberty and the rights we have as humans. We also looked at Democracy when the children voted for our School Councillors for 5M. Congratulations to Fayed and Eva on representing our class!
Today, we have looked at Tolerance and Mutual Respect, identifying our differences and being proud of them and proud of each other. We also looked at the countries of Europe in Geography and the children impressed me with their fantastic mapping skills.
I also had the pleasure in announcing that Macie, Scarlett, Leon and Willow were chosen to be Librarians for Year 5, I know the 4 of them will do an excellent job.
Pictures will follow tomorrow of our first week. If you need to contact me, my email is

Y5 Welcome!
Mrs Jukes, Mr Parker and myself are all looking forward to welcoming your children back to school on Wednesday morning. We hope you have enjoyed a peaceful and enjoyable summer break.
On Wednesday morning, please could the children return to school with their water bottle, pencil case and P.E. kit. As it due to be hot for the rest of the week, please could children arrive in school with a sun hat and sun cream if necessary please.
Children can also bring a reading book of their choice with them if they wish.
This week in class, we will focus on the role of British Values in class. This will be democracy in action when voting for School Council representatives and Worship Leaders and the Rule of Law when looking at behaviour expectations for the year.
Alongside this, we will of course be hitting the ground running with Maths, English and Reading in all 3 classes too.
We hope you and the children enjoy your final couple days of the holiday.
Mrs Jukes, Mr Parker and Mr Marsh
Plastic bags!
Good afternoon,
In preparation for moving into year 6 in September, we will be sending the children home with all old books tomorrow (19.07.23). Therefore, we kindly request that children come to school with a plastic bag in preparation for this. A simple reusable bag from the supermarket would work well or any bag that could hold a few books. Another option, is to ensure they come in with an emptier bag to fit the books in.
All current books will remain at NJS.
Thank you,
The year 5 team!
Beech’s base 5OP
Hello everyone,
Just to confirm, the children of 5OP are in Beech’s base tomorrow afternoon (18.07.23).
Children can come to school in the appropriate clothes for the session. They will also be swimming in the morning and therefore need to bring swimming kits in as well.
Many thanks,
Mrs Ollerenshaw
Alfie’s Community Badge
Today, Alfie in 5N has received his community badge for his wonderful act of kindness!
Alfie has been doing some lovely artwork at home and auctioning it to his family and friends. Alfie managed to make £20 which he decided to donate to NJS. What a remarkable and selfless thing to do for your school community Alfie!
Haberdashers’ Adams Sports Festival
A huge well done to the 32 children who represented NJS in the Haberdashers’ Adams Sports Festival at Longford Hall this morning.
We had two teams of 16 (8 girls and 8 boys per team) and each team competed in standing jump, hurdles, sprints, target throw, ball throw and team relay. The children represented NJS wonderfully and should be very proud of all they have achieved today.
A huge well done to NJS Team B who came 2nd place overall!!!
