103 NJS children entered the Telford and Wrekin cross country league today! What a team!
We are immensely proud of all of the children, their success and sportsmanship. They were a pleasure to take.
A huge congratulations to the upper school girls football team who won their TWSCFA semi-final on Monday. They will now play in the final at the Bucks Head Stadium on 9th May!!
Well done girls!! 🏆⚽️
A wonderful experience for lower school today: Indy, from Telford Gurdwara, visited us to lead an assembly on life as a Sikh. This builds on from last year’s visit to the Gurdwara for the current Yr 4s and will give the current Yr 3s, who will be studying Sikhism this term, a brilliant insight into the religion. Our thanks to Indy and his team for helping to to build relationships across faiths in our local community.
Dear Parents / Carers
Shropshire Council are proposing to close the School Library Service, which is a vital component in the education of many of the children of Shropshire. They have supported Newport Junior School for many years! Providing us with books, topic collections and they have helped to train our Junior Librarians every year!
A petition to persuade Shropshire Council to look at options to maintain the service in some form has been started.
Please follow the link below if you agree the Library Service is something worth saving.

If you need your child to return to school they will be accompanied back to school by school staff for usual dismissal at 3.15pm.
Thank you to all of the children who have returned their permission slip for the Cross Country Event at Chetwynd Deer Park on Tuesday. REMINDERS:
*Please send your child to school in their PE kit (white or house colour t shirt with dark bottoms).
*Normal school times: we will be leaving school around 10am and returning around 2/2.30pm.
*The children will be walking to and from the Deer Park for the event.
*Please ensure your child has a back pack containing sufficient water and a packed lunch. Please also provide waterproof coat and layers (the weather changes rapidly at the moment so please send them prepared!).
*There are strictly no spectators allowed for this event, it is only open to school staff.
Thank you for your support. Good luck to all of the children running, we hope they enjoy the event.
We have received further complaints from Avenue Road residents regarding parents parking on double yellow lines and junctions. This is creating a hazard on our school road for pedestrians and a concern for the safety of our community.
Please can I urge you all to travel to school responsibly. If you need to drive to school please use local car parks (Specsavers, Shuker Field etc) and walk from there to keep Avenue Road safe.
Thank you for your support.
