Parent and Carer Survey: Survey Monkey! (re: NJS’ Reopening)
We are very keen to get your feedback on our reopening and would be really grateful if you could complete the online questionnaire which can be found here:
Thank you to everyone who is able to support us by completing this survey.
The school council consists of two children from each class. We believe that the School Council will help to make our school community an enjoyable environment which encourages children to grow in self-esteem.
School Council Mission Statement
We want to make the school a better place to learn and make sure that all children are kind, helpful and happy.
Who are we?
School Council members 2020-2021
Hi Year 5
If you would like to represent your class as a school council representative, please prepare a short speech to share with your class on Thursday or Friday. You will need to think about what you can bring to the role. The other students in the class will take part in a democratic vote to pick who will represent them.
All voted in school council representatives will be shared during a teams assembly on Friday afternoon.
Team Yr 5 x
A huge well done for Emily from 5M, who has been awarded the “managers player of the season” award for Newport Girls under9s team! What a super effort!
Emily hopes to repeat this, this season, when she plays for the under 10s!
A huge well done from all at NJS!
Good evening all!
Well what a start to the new school year it has been. The children have been beyond amazing! Thank you to all of you for preparing and ensuring your children came in happy and worry-free. The work and efforts of the last few months have really shown and they all shared such happy memories from their “lockdown!”
Just a few things from us for the weekend:
The children were asking when lunch was at 10:30am. Please feel free to send your child in with a snack for break time or let them know they can have something out of their lunchbox as we do not have milk or fruit in KS2.
Our PE day is on a Thursday, but as the weather is very changeable at the moment please send the children into school with their PE kits on a Monday and we’ll ensure that they bring it home on a Friday. The current PE dress code is available on the website. A plastic bag to put their trainers in may also be useful as the trainers could get muddy from the field.
We shall be issuing readings books over the next couple of days. These can be taken home, encouraged to read and brought back in every day. When they are “swapped” please be reassured that books brought back into school are then isolated for 72 hours, meaning other children cannot take them straight home! We will be completing various subtle assessments over the next couple of weeks to ensure your child is on the correct banded book and working at the correct challenge areas in writing and maths.
We have reintroduced the children to Times Tables Rock Stars this week and given them new login information – this can be found in home-link books. Many children’s times tables are rusty after such a long break, so playing on TTRS as much as possible will really benefit them! The website can be accessed from a computer and the app can be downloaded on to tablets or smart phones.
It feels very strange not being able to have a chat on the door at the moment, however we want you to know that we are available via the home link book or you can contact us easily on the correct email:
5H – Megan.email@example.com
5L – Elliot.firstname.lastname@example.org
5M – Ben.email@example.com
Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns or information about your child you think could be useful.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
