Thank you Mrs Yates for this super activity this afternoon!
Missing year 5 lunchbox
Thomas in 5W has lost his lunchbox after putting it in the trolley. It is a black soft lunchbox and has a football design on the front and the letter T written on the front. If anyone has accidentally taken it home please return it. Thank you!
Year 5 Sports Day
Year 5 had a wonderful sports day yesterday! The children were fantastic and showed great courage, resilience and teamwork. Thank you to all the family members who came to watch and support. Thank you also to all staff for their efforts, especially Mr Marsh our outstanding compère!
Art Club Marking Refugee Week
We have created ‘Healing’ artwork inspired by Nima Javan an abstract artist who sought refuge in the UK in 2019.
National Refugee Week 2022
Refugee Week is an annual festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees. This year’s theme is healing.Â
We All Have the Right to be Safe
We believe that everyone deserves a home and has the right to seek safety for themselves and their families.
Children at NJS will be marking this festival by watching some short films about young people who have taken refuge in Britain and the journey they went on to get here, completing some ‘healing’ activities together and by doing some art work inspired by the illustration below.
The illustration marking Refugee Week 2022 is by Nima Javan, a painter specialising in traditional Persian art and contemporary abstract art. Nima’s current work is inspired by ‘Persian miniatures’, using characters found in traditional paintings as well as his own creations. Originally from Quchan in North East Iran, Nima sought refuge in the UK in 2019.
