Wellbeing support for parents

We are always striving to support our families as best we can. The NHS have prepared some audio clips that can be used as wellbeing/emotional support for children and adults who are struggling to deal with a range of issues.

You may have children who are experiencing school closures due to bubbles closing, ill health or experiencing anxiety, these clips are designed to support calming down strategies.

We hope this will provide some support at home.

Year 3 Deer Park visit clarification

Dear Parents,

Following several emails from parents, this message should clarify clothing requirements for this Friday 11th December in Year 3.

There are two groups going to the Deer Park on Friday, Group 1 in the morning and Group 2 in the afternoon.

Group 1 – Children who are going in the morning need to come to school dressed to go to the Deer Park, with their school clothing and shoes in a bag, to change into for the afternoon in school.

Group 2 – Children who are going in the afternoon need to come to school dressed to go to the Deer Park for the whole day. They do not need to wear school uniform at all, or bring it with them. This is because they will go straight home after their Deer Park visit.

As it is also National Christmas Jumper Day this Friday, children can also choose to wear their jumper too.

Please contact us if you need any further clarification.

Kind regards,

The Year 3 Team.

Class 3B – Bring Xmas Jumper tomorrow – if you have one!

Dear Parents of Class 3B only,

Please could children in Class 3B bring in their Christmas jumpers tomorrow? We need to do one final take for the Christmas performance, tomorrow.

If you don’t have one, please don’t worry. We have a few spares to use.

Children still can wear their Christmas jumpers on Friday 11th (National Christmas Jumper Day) as well.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Butler

Year 3 Christmas Play clothing / costumes

Dear Parents,

Due to the nature and format of the Christmas play this year (YouTube video), it is taking considerably longer to prepare and film.

Therefore, if they are ready, please send in your children’s costumes tomorrow morning, so we can start filming tomorrow.

ALL children who do not have an acting part, need to bring in a Christmas jumper TOMORROW, or a jumper that is warm and woolly.

This will need to stay in school until filming is complete, for a week or so. If you don’t have one, please just send them in with a non-school uniform jumper in a bag, and we will ‘tinsel’ it up!

We appreciate the really short notice, but please do your best. Also, please share this message with other parents that you may know in Year 3.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Year 3 Team.

Year 3 Christmas Tree decorations

Dear Parents,

The Year 3 Christmas tree is looking rather bare at present and we would like to give children the opportunity to decorate it!

Please send in a bauble decoration, either hand-made or pre-made, that you are prepared to donate to school.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Year 3 Team.

Year 3 Christmas Play Songs

Dear Parents,

Christmas is just around the corner (seems like yesterday that it was September!), and we would really like your help – please could you support your child to learn the words to these songs as soon as possible, as we will need to film and sing next week sometime. Any practice will be valuable, but don’t worry if this is too short notice – we will be doing some practice in school as well (socially distanced / outside!).

3W Songs:

Away in a Manger

Silent Night

3B Song:

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree – by Brenda Lee

3P Song:

Band Aid 1984: Do They Know it’s Christmas?

There is one song which all classes need to learn the words for:

Merry Christmas Everybody – by Slade

Over the next few days, your children should be bringing home a copy of the words, but in case they don’t, here they are.

Once again, thank you for your continued support!

Kind regards,

The Year 3 Team.

3B Apologies

Dear Parents,

My deepest apologies to parents of certain children in my class who have returned home wearing school uniform t-shirts soiled with pastel chalk.

Whilst many children in class were able to complete the activity and remain spotlessly clean, several children struggled to resist the temptation to use their t-shirts as a canvas. In theory, the pastel chalk should come out in the wash.

Thank you for your understanding,

Kind regards,

Mr Butler

Year 3 Art Shirts

Dear Parents,

All children in Year 3 need to bring in an old t-shirt or shirt to wear on top of their school clothing, for use during Art lessons. It will potentially get covered in paint and other materials, so needs to be old / not needed anymore.

Many children bring in one of mum or dad’s old shirts, or t-shirts, so they can be worn over clothing, without being too tight.  This item will need to be small enough to store in their locker or drawer in class.

Thank you for your support,

Regards,

The Year 3 Team.

Message for 3W…

Dear 3W Parents and Carers

You may be aware that Miss Watson has been absent from school this week due to a none COVID related illness.  I am writing to advise you that unfortunately Miss Watson will not return to school until the 2nd December as she has been advised by the NHS to work from home as she falls in the extremely vulnerable category.

Miss Watson is a very dedicated teacher and is upset not to be in school with her class for this period of time.  She will be working from home to support the team with their planning and will hold sessions with the class on Microsoft Teams which I know the children and her will look forward to.

We recently appointed Miss Bold to the NJS team for the remainder of this academic year and she will teach 3W during Miss Watson’s absence.  She can be reached by email Laurie.bold1@taw.org.uk we would encourage you to copy Miss Watson chloe.watson@taw.org.uk into any emails too so that she is kept informed.

The most important thing is that we keep members of our NJS family safe and follow the guidance given; we all send our best wishes to Miss Watson and can’t wait to have her back.

 Mrs Moody
