A paper copy of this letter has been sent home this evening, an electronic copy is attached for your attention:
5PJ had the BEST lesson this morning in Science. The children are currently looking at all things space! With this, they looked at the moon phases – which take place over 28 days. We looked at the scientific terms for each moon and why we don’t always see a full moon. We also discovered what makes the moon glow!
Here we are making the moons from a lunar phase using biscuits! It is safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed this lesson…
To make sure they are noticeable around school, the NJS Guardians of Safety have new lanyards! They are turquoise and yellow and will be worn at playtimes, so anyone at school can recognise them and go to them for help, advice or support.
5PJ have been busy constructing old buildings in Newport today. The buildings were the placed on to a large scale map of the town.
. Well done 5PJ!
Reminder – Please could children bring in an old shirt to cover their school uniform for painting. 5PJ will be painting in school tomorrow. 5W and 5M will be painting in the next week or two so please could they bring an old shirt in and leave it in their locker ready. Thank you!
Reminder that 5W’s class assembly will be on Thursday 2nd February at 2.30pm for any parents/carers who would like to watch.
Following all our work on anti-bullying week last term, our NJS Guardians of Safety have been working really hard to promote information about bullying.
We have created some videos explaining what bullying is, and showing some examples of things that could happen which either are or are NOT bullying.
NJS takes any accusations of bullying very seriously, but it is important that we know the difference between fall-outs, unkind behaviour, and bullying. Bullying is when someone is targeted repeatedly.
Whether it is classed as bullying or not, at NJS we follow our behaviour policy for victims and perpetrators and ensure that they are both supported in the necessary way. This usually means events are recorded on our school system, appropriate staff are made aware, parents/carers notified and sanctions are given where appropriate (such as loss of playtime).
