We hope that this newsletter is useful for families to help them to prepare for the new school year.

Please name EVERYTHING!

Please can we ask parents and carers for their support… please name EVERYTHING that your child brings to school!  If items are named we can easily return them to your child.

Please ensure that your child’s name is clear and ideally also label items with your child’s class name e.g. ‘4L’.

Parent Pay

If your child already attends NJS your ParentPay log in details will remain the same in September.

If your child is new to NJS: we have to wait for electronic files to transfer and as soon as we are then able we will contact you with login details to set up your ParentPay account.  Your child may of course have a school meal whilst you await login details: your account will show once you are able to login.

At NJS we use ParentPay to: pay for school meals, consent and pay for school visits and sign up for school clubs.

If you are unable to attend information will be shared following the meetings via the newsletter.

Homework

At NJS you will receive half termly homework.  At the start of a half term teachers will communicate to you a ‘menu’ of homework to be completed over the half term.

In addition each week teachers will send home a selection of spellings for the children to practise.

We of course expect the children to read at home at least three times a week and for this to be documented in their Reading Diaries.  We have useful book recommendations here on our Reading Newsletters:  https://newportjuniorschool.org.uk/home/learning/subjects-2/reading/

2026 Residential Visits

You will be able to sign up on ParentPay in September: we will notify you when places are open.
