Welcome

Welcome to Newport Church of England Controlled Junior School.  Please see this short video to learn more about our school and it’s facilities:

I hope our website gives you a flavour of life at Newport Church of England Junior School. We nurture the skills, values and beliefs which children will need to become responsible global citizens in the 21st Century through a broad and balanced curriculum. We work together to ensure a safe and secure environment through a curriculum which engages and inspires them.
Central to our values is a commitment to work in partnership with parents to support children’s learning and well-being. In addition, as a church school we enjoy a close relationship with St. Nicholas’ Church and Christian values are central to our school family.
Learning is enriched by a curriculum which children enjoy both in and beyond the classroom. There are opportunities for residential trips and other educational visits. Children visit the theatre and we encourage them to perform for a wide range of audiences. We introduce the children to the world of work through Raising Aspirations Week and involve them in the community through our Senior Citizens parties, the Newport Show, the Newport Carnival and projects with local schools.
In all these learning activities there is a drive to ensure children leave Newport Junior School equipped with the numeracy and literary skills to secure a happy and successful future. The staff team have the necessary skills to deliver high quality teaching and learning and as a result pupils attain very well.

There is also a strong tradition of lunchtime and after school clubs provided freely by teaching and support staff. These clubs range from the sporting to the cultural and include, football, cricket and rugby, tennis, art. ICT, choir and drama. Many children participate in these activities and enjoy the opportunity to make new friends. There is a thriving Eco and Gardening Club while other children make a positive contribution to the life of the school as members of the School Council, Librarians or House Captains.
If you would like any further information please contact me and I would be delighted to take you for a look around the school.
