Gold Award Winners
Mrs M was very proud to take Year 6 Gold Award winners to Burton Borough School for a reward. They had a cake and a drink with Mrs Bedford and Mrs Heins.

Silver Award Winners
Mrs M was delighted to reward a group of Year 6 Silver Award winners with a visit to the park this week! As always the children were exceptional in their behaviour and thoroughly enjoyed their visit.
Well done to Burton Borough Junior Band!
Several NJS children performed in a concert at BBS this week in their Junior Band. We are very proud of you all.
Well done to Darcy in Year 4 who was the only violinist and thoroughly enjoyed her first performance.

Where has that year gone?! Time has flown and I cannot believe how much we have packed into this academic year. I am so proud of the learning as well as the memory making experiences NJS continues to offer.
At the end of this academic year I wanted to express my thanks to everyone who has made a difference to our school family…
Firstly of course the most important people: the children! They make what we do at NJS worthwhile and we are so very proud of all they have achieved this year. We recognise them all as individuals and are so proud of how each of them has flourished this. Thank you to them for their energy and enthusiasm for school life.
Thank you to parents and carers. Our children thrive when we all work together. I appreciate our supportive parents, carers and families who engage with school staff and work with us to enable our children to progress.
I know I may be biased but the staff at NJS are exceptional. I am so proud to be part of the NJS staff team. They routinely go above and beyond in the best interests of the children.
On a day to day basis the teaching and support staff provide excellent learning opportunity. Alongside this they offer an outstanding broad curriculum with such a superb range of opportunities including clubs, trips, residential visits and whole school events. They work hard to create memories and I am so grateful to them.
The office team at NJS are so very welcoming and efficient and do a wonderful job at keeping us all organised, they make a huge difference. The Cleaning, Caretaking and Catering teams are exemplary. Their standards are exceptional and they work so hard. They are such valued members of the school family: thank you to them.
I send my best wishes to our Year 6 children for their new adventures at Secondary School. You are wonderful young people who will thrive, we are proud of you.
I am looking forward to seeing Years 3, 4 and 5 back in September alongside our new intake.
I sincerely hope you all have a wonderful Summer Holiday with time to relax and opportunity for quality time with family and friends.
I am off to pack my bucket and spade for the beach!

Does your child cycle to school alone?
We have had a phone call from a member of the public concerned that they witnessed a child in an NJS uniform on their bike cycling out into the road without looking and a car had to stop quickly to avoid collision.
If your child walks/scoots/cycles to school alone please do review with them how they do this safely. There are some resources here you may find useful: https://www.think.gov.uk/education-resources/
In school we will remind the children about safe travel. Then in the Autumn we have workshops planned for each year group: Pedestrian Training for Y3, Be Bright Be Seen for Y4, Bikeability for Y5 and Road Safety for Y6.
