Online Safety Newsletter Primary June 2026

Please find attached the latest Online Safety Newsletter. This month’s edition has information about the following topics:

Pinterest – what to watch for and parental controls, including unsuitable content
Online Scams – scammers can target you and your child on Social Media apps e.g.: Roblox, TikTok etc. Details include how to spot scams and what to do.
Digital Footprints – what they are and how to be aware of the traces you leave on the Internet and protecting your privacy.
Risks of Auto-Saving – auto-saving to camera roll and why you shouldn’t allow it / how to disable it in WhatsApp etc.
“Retro – Photos with Friends” App – privacy and date access, groups chats, sharing images and what to be aware of.
Storybooks and the games from BookTrust – online books to read for free and games to play.
Emoji Meanings – hidden meanings of emojis your kids use
Omoggle – adults only app with poor age checks and potential to contact strangers. Info and advice on safeguarding concerns with this app.

We’ve heard in the National News this week that children’s use of online apps will all change in 2027. We await more guidance on this but in the meantime are you aware of current guidance? Is your child accessing any apps that aren’t appropriate for their age?
