Yr 6 Wrekin College Maths Challenge
A huge congratulations to our Yr 6 mathematicians who represented NJS at the Wrekin College Maths Challenge on Friday. An incredible 55 teams entered and we are delighted that NJS finished in 6th place, and as the 4th highest school overall. A remarkable achievement by these children who should feel very proud of their efforts.
School Attendance is Important
Please find attached an attendance leaflet produced by the Newport Group of Schools.
School attendance is really important to enabling your child’s social and academic progress.
If you ever have anything you wish to discuss with us that may support your child’s attendance we are here to help. Please contact your class teacher, the office or myself.
Thank you for your support,

NEW: Travel Telford Initiative for NJS!
Governors and staff at NJS are very aware of the challenges of travel to school. We are especially aware of recent concerns with Avenue Road.
This year, 23-24, we are embarking on a new initiative with Travel Telford which aims to improve the journey to school for our children enabling them to make lifelong choices for safer, healthier travel.
Please find a letter below from the Travel Telford team and the results from the Travel Survey completed in July:
Newport Junior Parent Survey. UPDATED
Swimming Reminder….
Monday: Year 3
Tuesday: Year 6
ALL children need to remember their kit please!
Beech’s Base Reminder….
Tuesday: 3T
Wednesday: 6B
Please remember that on a ‘Beech’s Base Day’ the children can come to school in their own old clothes: old trainers or ideally wellies, long sleeves and long trousers are a must. Please dress appropriate for the weather and bring waterproofs if it is set to be a wet day.
Supervision at the start of the school day….
As you will be aware children are not supervised at school until 8.45am. We open the gates at 8.30am to reduce pedestrian congestion on Avenue Road however school staff will not supervise until 8.45am.
It has been suggested that a few Year 6 children have arrived on school site before 8.45am and then left site to visit the new sweet shop before then coming back to school. We just want to suggest you talk to your children about this to ensure they are clear on where you expect them to be and when.
Thank you for your support.
