Residential Visits 2025!
Evening all,
Residential visits for 2025 will go onto ParentPay today. I have copied the details below that were shared earlier in the term on the website and in ‘Meet the Teacher Meetings’.
IF you are entitled to Free School Meals please pay half of the deposit. If you aren’t able to get a place please email njs.admin@taw.org.uk to be put on the waiting list.
We are really looking forward to our 2025 adventures and as always I am incredibly grateful to the NJS team for making these visits possible.

Values in Action!
Huge well done to Poppi in Year 6 who has recently demonstrated both courage and compassion…
Poppi swam in the Club Championships for Telford Aqua Swimming Club. She did extremely well on her 50 metres breastroke she knocked over 4 seconds from her personal best time. She also swam 50 metres fly, for the first time and came second in her heat with an amazing time. Well done Poppi!
Poppi also sold raffle tickets to raise money for the swimming club and organised the sale of shells and painted rocks for Tynllwyn Caravan and Camping sites charity for 2024 which is the Tallyllyn Railway. What amazing compassion Poppi.

PARENTS OPENING DOORS (PODS) coffee afternoon 7th October
PODS (Parents Opening Doors) is a parent carer/peer led charity that supports parent carers who have children/young people (0-25 years old) with a disability and/or additional need. All PODS staff and volunteers have the ‘lived experience’ which helps to support the parent carers. PODS is attending the Coffee Afternoon at School on 7th October 2024 at 1.45pm. We are integral to the delivery of the PINS project in schools with aims to:
- give opportunities to ensure that parent carers have their voices heard by the school,
- bringing families together to share their experiences
- work in co-production.
Our first session will introduce PODS Parent Carer Forum and discuss how we will run the sessions over this academic year and the focus of these sessions.

NJS Guardians of Safety
NJS Guardians of Safety
The Guardians of Safety and Wellbeing Group has been running for a number of years at NJS and they perform a very important role. It is a group of 12 children from years 4, 5 and 6 who are mentored by Mrs Wheat to embed a strong culture of safeguarding throughout our school.
Children meet regularly to develop knowledge of how to safeguard themselves and others, in order to increase the number of children who feel safe in school and outside within their local community. They also run Doodle Club on a Wednesday lunchtime.
They work in partnership with Telford and Wrekin’s Safeguarding Children’s Board in order to teach pupils in much greater depth, about how to stay safe, how to protect themselves from harm and how to take responsibility for their own and others’ safety.
The Guardians of Safety and Wellbeing are visible and accessible to all children during break-times and lunchtimes. They are able to talk to and advise children about how they can keep themselves safe and are there to talk to any children who have worries or problems.
NJS Harvest Festival
Our Harvest Festival will be held on Wednesday 9th October in the School Hall.
Years 3 and 4 1.30pm
Years 5 and 6 2.15pm
We hope you understand that we ask for a maximum of one adult per child to attend due to limited space.
On this date we will be using our value of Compassion to make donations to Newport Foodbank. Children can come to school with a suitable donation for the Foodbank e.g. tinned meat, tinned fruit, packets, cereal, toiletries, toilet roll etc.
(The Foodbank have kindly asked we don’t donate any fresh food or baked beans).
