We are looking forward to seeing the children on Wednesday 6th September.
Autumn Term clubs will commence the week beginning 25th September.
Once we return we will circulate the programme of clubs available this term for you to sign up on Parent Pay.
The menu for school meals can be found here:
Newport Juniors_Primary School Menu 2023 inner DIGI
Unless your child is in receipt of Free School Meals a meal is charged at £2.50. (Please can we remind Year 3 families that unless you are in receipt of Free School Meals that Universal Free School Meals do not apply in Key Stage 2 and you will be expected to pay for school meals. If you think you may be entitled to Free School Meals we encourage you to apply here: https://www.telford.gov.uk/info/20028/school_meals/9/free_school_meals/3
Payment for school meals is to be made online on Parent Pay. Parents of children in Years 4, 5 and 6 have active Parent Pay accounts that they can use immediately.
Parents of children in Year 3: we aim to have your account activation letters to you as soon as possible, in the meantime your child can of course have a school meal and the charge will be on your Parent Pay account when you get your activation letter.
Hot meals can be ordered on the day.
If your child would like a Grab and Go option (sandwich) then a form needs to be completed and returned to school by the Thursday for an order for the following week. Forms will be circulated next week.
Of course your child is also welcome to bring a packed lunch to school: these will be stored on lunchbox trolleys. Please ensure your child’s lunchbox is clearly named and ensure they bring it home each evening! Ideas for healthy lunchboxes can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes/
We welcome children into school at 8.45am when our gates open. We recommend that children do not arrive early for school as they will not be supervised by our team until 8.45am. Gates close at 8.55am when the registers are taken.
YEAR 3: please arrive through the security gate at the front of school.
YEARS 4 and 5: Please arrive through the black gates, closest to Avenue Road South, onto the main playground.
YEAR 6: please enter through the gate opposite One Dental.
Collection between 3.15pm and 3.25pm is through the same gates,
If you have more than one child at NJS please do drop off and collect from where most convenient for you: we usually suggest you collect from your youngest child’s gate and your older child comes there to wait with their younger sibling. Please make staff aware of your arrangement so they can support you.
On our playground at drop off and pick up we politely ask, for the safety of everyone:
*NO dogs
*Mobile phones are not used.
*Scooters and bikes are not ridden: please walk them to the shelters.
*NO balls
Next week we will circulate all of our key dates for 23/24 which will include events such as parents meetings, Christmas performances, sports days etc.
From Monday 11th September to October half term the following year groups will be swimming:
MONDAY: Year 3
TUESDAY: Year 6
On your child’s swimming day they need to bring: costume/trunks, towel, goggles and a swimming cap.
A reminder that Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th September are PD days. Children return to school on Wednesday 6th September!
Term dates can be found here on our website:Â https://newportjuniorschool.org.uk/home/joining/term-dates/
NAMING ITEMS!
Please ensure all items that are brought to school are named! You can do this with a pen or if you use the company below a % will go to our PTA:
UNIFORM
A copy of our uniform policy: Uniform Policy  Please remember that we understand costs are high and our uniform policy does allow items to be purchased that do not display the school logo. We also have a great supply of pre loved uniform that can be purchased from our PTA, just contact the school office with your request.
PE kit is also detailed in this policy.
WATER BOTTLES
We do ask that a water bottle is brought to school each day.
SCHOOL BAGS
Must fit into a locker! Please ensure they are no larger than an average backpack.
STATIONERY
If your child can bring to school a pencil case with some stationery this will help us and them to ensure they have what they need at all times. In their pencil case we recommend: pencils, blue biro, ruler, rubber, sharpener and glue stick. Please name everything!
SWIMMING KIT
All children will require a swimming kit: costume/trunks, towel and swimming cap.
BEECH’s BASE
All children will visit Beech’s Base once a half term. On this day they will be required to wear old clothes (they are very likely to get muddy!) that have long sleeves and full length. They need to have waterproofs and wellies too.

Hugely proud to announce that NJS has achieved the Tribal Quality Mark Primary Award.
The letter attached details some of the criteria for this award.
An audit was submitted and a rigorous visit took place from the Tribal Auditor in May. The day consisted of visits to lessons, interviews with leaders, children, Governors and parents.
We are delighted with this award and it is a credit to our school community,
