*Transition day will take place on Tuesday!

*If your child is in Year 6 and not attending a transition day at their Secondary School they are expected in school.  If your child is not attending Burton Borough school (for which we have a register and confirmed induction days) please keep the office informed of your child’s induction days: njs.admin@taw.org.uk

We have Open Evening on Wednesday 8th July.  This is an opportunity to come and view your child’s books and chat with your current class teacher.

School will be fully open and you will also be welcomed to visit your child’s new classroom and meet their new teacher.

Entrance and exit for Open Evening will be through the main security gate in front of the office.

Thursday 16th July is ‘2026 Leavers Day’ at NJS.

We will begin the day with a Leavers Service at St Nicholas’ Church beginning shortly after 9am.  The whole school will attend this event.  Year 6 parents (apologies we cannot accommodate parents from other year groups) are welcomed to attend however this is limited to 2 guests per child please.

We will return to school and the children will enjoy the option to have ‘Leavers Lunch’: a menu they have designed as a celebration of their time at NJS.  This will be the menu for the whole school on this date.

During the afternoon the children will be allowed to have their NJS t shirt signed by members of our school family.  Please send them with pens for this: ‘Sharpie’s’ are ideal!

NJS are then hosting a Leavers Party for the Year 6 children 3.30-5.15pm.  Staff will be organising a wide range of activities for the children to enjoy and we will finish with some chips and an ice pop! Children should wear practical clothing for this party: trainers and comfortable clothes as some activities will be ‘sporty’!  If you are collecting your child please do so from the main yard at 5.15pm.

Piper has raised £590 for the Little Princess Trust Charity and had 35cm of her hair cut at the weekend.  What a wonderful achievement and difference made to others.  We are proud of you Piper.

Online Safety Newsletter Primary July 2026

Please find attached the July edition of the NJS Online Safety Newsletter – the final one for this academic year. This month’s edition contains information and advice about the following topics:

• Social Media Ban for under 16s – what it is, what the Government’s position is and why, new rules.
• WhatsApp – Group chats, inappropriate content, location sharing, chat lock / secret code, screentime, Meta AI and Incognito chat.
• Livestreaming – what is it, what are the risks, how to help your child be safe.
• Netflix Playground – what is it, who is it for, additional info.
• Moving to Secondary School – Internet Matters have published a variety of resources to help with this tricky period of time.
• Screentime Balance over the Summer Holidays – Vodaphone and SWGfL have published advice on how to navigate common digital risks and tips on how to balance screentime.
• Instagram: New Supervision Tool – this tool allows parents to view the topics their children are engaging in.
