NJS and its community have been saddened by the recent news that Mrs Maureen Beech has passed away. Mrs Beech had been a very special part of our school family since 1985 when her children attended the school.
Mrs Beech started working at Newport Junior School as a lunchtime supervisor and then moved into a roll as a Teaching Assistant in the early 1990’s for another 24 years!
She worked with hundreds of Newport children, who we know will all have fond memories of her. She loved art, craft, cooking and supporting community links; like working with Newport in Bloom and the school choir.
Mrs Beech enjoyed supporting school trips and residential visits, such as trips to London, Malvern and even to the Shetland Islands!
Staff who worked with her will hold many special memories of her kindness and sense of fun. Nothing was ever too much for Mrs Beech and the children adored her. On Shrove Tuesday she would be able to give all the children the chance to cook pancakes and she kept our grounds and gardens looking beautiful, through her work with Green Club.
Mrs Beech was known fondly amongst the staff as ‘Aunty Maur’; we remember her as a very dear friend. We all send our very best wishes to her family at this time.
