Year 5 was very excited to hear about the endangered ‘loof lirpa’ bird this morning. It has recently been sighted in Britain, and the children were especially excited when they found out that it had been viewed in Newport and the council had telephoned NJS to see if we could coax it to land! Interestingly, the ‘loof lirpa’ is strongly attracted to marshmallows and can be beckoned by shouting “LOOF LIRPA” loudly, whilst standing still and offering marshmallows to the sky. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to locate this extraordinary bird, despite excellent efforts from year 5.
