Homework – Week 12!

Homework- Spellings this week are topic based. The spelling test will be next Friday.

Spellings Wk 12

Times tables have always been a big part of the curriculum. From next September, there will be a times tables test in year 4. Children will only have 6 seconds per question. Therefore, each week, they will be receiving times tables homework to complete as well as reading 3 times and the set activity. We are starting with the 2x tables and will progress each week to secure the rapid recall.

This week, the children will come home with a fronted adverbial activity. Please read the guidance for parents, which contains an explanation so that you can help your child should they need it.

If you have any questions regarding homework, please do not hesitate to approach any of the year 4 teachers.

Finally, homework, which consists of: reading x3, spellings, times tables and an English activity, is due in Monday 26th or Tuesday 27th November.

Homework!

Please see the attached spellings for the next week.

For homework, the children will be completing a comprehension task. Each question is for a specific reading skill (something which we have looked at in depth in guided reading). The children are more than welcome to highlight any information they feel they need in the question or the text itself.

Homework is due in Monday 19th or Tuesday 20th November. The spelling test will be Friday 23rd of November.

Finally, we will be swimming on Tuesday again until the end of this term.

Have a lovely weekend!

Trip reminder… Attingham Park

We are all looking forward to our trip to Attingham Park tomorrow (13/11/18). Children need to come into school at normal time and we will be leaving at 9:15am. The children will need to bring a packed lunch with them and plenty of drinks for the day.

As we are experiencing colder weather, we would advise children to wear or bring a hat and gloves. They will be outside for most of the day so warm clothing is a must. The children are building dens outside so we would also suggest that the clothes are warm and potentially old.

We will be back by the end of the school day.

Thank you!

Swimming and trip!

As year 4 are on a school trip on Tuesday, we will be swimming on Monday. Therefore, children will need their swimming kits on Monday instead. Please can we remind any child with long hair will need to wear a swimming cap.

The children need to bring a packed lunch for the school trip on Tuesday. It is due to be very cold and they will be outside for most of the day. Therefore, we would suggest wearing warm, old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. When the children are den building they will need gloves.

Homework – Week 10!

Spellings Wk 10

This week the children have a variety of national curriculum spellings to learn. The spelling test will be next Friday (16th).

On top of this, the children have a multiplication activity. These are testing multiplication recall and the inverse using division. If your child is stuck, we would suggest using a multiplication grid to help with the tricky questions. You can find these online.

Homework will be due in Monday 12th or Tuesday 13th of November.

Well done to all the children for a fantastic week!

Swimming!

The children will be delighted to hear that the swimming pool is not going to be closed after half term. Therefore, we will be swimming on a Tuesday every week until Christmas.

Children will need a one piece costume or trunks; a towel and a swimming cap. If for any reason you would like your child to be excused from swimming that week, please send them into school with a letter explaining why.

Thank you,

Half term homework!

When we return to school, it is national Peace week to celebrate the end of the First World War. Therefore, we are asking the children to research a local war hero… Wilfred Owen. They can decide what they would like to research and can present it in a poster or a fact file. The purpose of this will help support our Literacy as we explore two boys who grew up and went to war together. The research will help children recognise a real life perspective of WW1.

Spellings Wk 9

On top of this, the spellings are continuing to look into plurals. They will be tested on their spellings the first Friday back.

Even though it is half term, the children are still expected to read at least 3 times a week with an adult and record their reading in their diaries.

Homework is due in Monday 5th or Tuesday 6th of November.

Have a great week off!

Homework – Week 8

This week the children’s spellings are all plurals ending with an es.

For homework the children are focusing on adverbs. They have 5 sentences where they need to identify the adverb within. Then, they need to put the 5 adverbs into their own sentences (remembering full stops and capital letters).

The homework will be due in Monday 22nd or Tuesday 23rd of October.

Due to finishing school for half term on Thursday, the spelling test will be brought forward to Thursday 25th October.

Have a great weekend!
