Year 4 & 5 Young Writer’s Awards

Well done to 4J, 5K and 5P achieving their awards from the Young Writers competition.

Parents- if you wish your child’s work to be published, you must complete this following the instructions online. Sadly, I cannot take any orders or accept permissions for you on your behalf. As you have your own personal logins, found on the letter you’ve received it is your responsibility.

Kindest regards,

Holiday with times tables

Good afternoon all,

Another friendly reminder around the MTC approaching the week we return from our half term. It brings great joy to announce that this week our year 4 average has come out above the national target of 21. Amazing effort shown by all pupils, even if their score is lower than this the improvement they have shown helps build that average up.

I have discussed with 4L, methods to continue working on our tables over half term and they have some amazing ideas. Ask them yourselves and see if you can build some tables knowledge into your routine.

Our favoured way we discussed would be to use something the children are familiar with in school, the website ‘blooket’ (blooket.com) a great combination of questions and mini games. It can be played solo or multiplayer by simply sharing a game code once it has been hosted.

It is a free service, which requires a login to set up games, however anyone without an account can join a game once it has been set up.

Well worth a try
..you may find yourselves enjoying it at the same time.

Anything you are doing is appreciated as ever!

Piper Hair Donation

Piper is cutting her hair and donating at least 30cm to the Little Princess Trust Charity on Saturday 27th June. It costs the charity ÂŁ550 to make her hair donation into a wig for a child going through cancer treatment so she is trying to raise this amount. The Just Giving page is below, there will also be a donation box in the school reception. Piper is hugely grateful for any donation, thank you.

Fidget Toys in School – Please Read.

We have recently seen an increase in children bringing squishy or gel-filled toys into school and referring to them as “fidget toys”. Unfortunately, many of these items are becoming a distraction during lessons and social times, and several have burst, causing mess and disruption within classrooms.

At our school, fidget resources are used carefully to support children with identified sensory or learning needs. Where appropriate, these are either:

  • Provided directly by the school
  • Specified as part of a child’s Individual Provision Map

To ensure these resources maintain their intended purpose and to minimise disruption to learning, children should not bring fidget toys or similar items into school unless they meet one of the criteria above.

Any such items brought into school without prior agreement will be confiscated and will need to be collected by a parent or carer.

We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a calm and focused learning environment for all children.

Many thanks.
