Y6 Senior Citizens Christmas party

To all parents and carers,

Year 6 will need to sign up for one of the following for Senior Citizens tea party, Wednesday 5th December:

Raffle prize

Cakes/biscuits

Flowers

There will be sign up sheets in class for children. All donations for this event need to be brought into school Wednesday morning.

Spellings due 28th November

Due to the changes in the Literacy curriculum children in Year 6 are expected to be secure with all KS2 spellings. There will be no choice of spellings, in terms of degree of difficulty. All children, of all abilities, need to learn the following for next week:

favourite grammar
knowledge mention
natural occasionally
opposite particular
peculiar possession

To support with understanding definitions for spellings, the ‘Collins children’s cobuild dictionary’ is a very useful tool.

Homework due 28th November

Read at least 3 times and ask an adult to sign your reading diary to confirm.

Learn your spellings. Complete detailed sentences and definitions in your homework book.

Complete the multiplication grid – one grid a night to be completed over several nights

Equivalent fraction worksheet to be completed. Children will make a choice from 1 star, 2 star and 3 star.

Equivalent fractions – children need to either multiply or divide the numerator and the denominator by the same value to show equivalence.

Complete the word sort activity – chn need to sort words in to the table to identify
nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives.

Create a table with 4 headings: nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives. Make sure the table is neatly drawn with a ruler.

Sort all the words into the correct column determining what they are.

Make an information leaflet on fractions. This is a topic of maths we are starting next week so we want the children to share knowledge that they already have on fractions. This could be shown in a poster or as a leaflet.

Year 10 teach Years 5 and 6 Spanish

On Thursday the 25th, 8 Year 10 children taught Spanish to Years 5 and 6.

The Year 10 had spent the morning planning and resourcing the lesson as part of their EEL day and the. In the afternoon they delivered their lessons. They did very well and delivered their lessons with positive attitudes and did so confidently.
