Just to throw something else at us this week we have heard there is the potential for snow  tomorrow.

If in the morning your child is due to attend school and there is snow….

*IF it is an option to keep your child at home on this occasion please do so.  This will help us enormously if some of our staff cannot travel in and we have a reduced capacity.

*IF your child does need to attend school we hope the usual arrangements will be in place but please do look closely at Facebook and your email in the morning for any updates.  (If your child does attend school please send them in suitable warm clothing and with wellies, we will certainly play in the snow if we can!)

These were great this morning!  It was wonderful for the staff to see your children.  Today was an introduction to the technology and we hope your child benefitted.  We were delighted to be able to start this provision on day 2! Well done NJS staff!

I have organised devices today for those families who have requested a loan.  Mrs Stanley will have tried to make contact with you this afternoon to agree collection.

Keyworker and Vulnerable Pupils…

Your children are welcome to bring a packed lunch when they attend school or they can order a school meal on the day.

Each week we will publish the menu for the following week which will vary.  FSM pupils are of course entitled to this meal; if you are not FSM please make payment in the usual way.

We are purchasing food vouchers for Aldi for our families in receipt of Free School Meals.

We are awaiting their arrival and hope to distribute at the end of the week.  The first voucher issued will be for £25 per child to cover this week and next week.   Further vouchers will be issued throughout the period of school closure.

If your FSM child attends school they will have their meal in school.  Please email me if you wish to discuss.

Just a few words of thanks after what has been a very, very busy day!!

I work with a phenomenal team of teachers, office staff, teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors, cleaners, caretakers and cooks and can’t thank them enough for their commitment today.  They have all been in school today planning and preparing for the challenge of the coming weeks with a great spirit of morale and a determination to do their very best for the NJS community.  This is something very special and something I am very privileged to be part of…. thank you to them all for everything they do for NJS.

Everyone in our school family faces a challenge at the start of 2021 balancing personal and work related matters.  Please be kind to yourselves, look after your wellbeing and know that by keeping each other safe and doing our best we are doing more than enough at this time.

As parents who are entering the world of home schooling again we fully appreciate the challenge.  Please put wellbeing first: look after your children.  You know them best and know how they are feeling as the days go on…. let them take time out if they need it, use the opportunity for exercise and don’t put too much pressure on them or yourself.

We will offer plenty of learning materials and resources over the coming weeks but fully expect you to balance those with time to relax, exercise, watch a film or to engage with some of the enrichment and fun activities we will also lead and promote.

Take care everyone and keep safe, we can’t wait to see our NJS children over the next couple of days even though it will be remotely for now.

Timely (like the electrics last night!) but our website is being ‘difficult’ and staff are struggling to get the home learning on.

If you don’t get an email with tomorrows learning pack please be patient…it’s coming and will be on the class page as soon as we are able!

Daily online lessons start tomorrow!

Tomorrow staff will be simply ensuring the children can use the technology (as best as we can from afar) and talking to the children about what will be happening over the next few weeks.

Please ensure:

*Children are ready to start at the time indicated on your ParentMail.

*Children enter the lesson on Mute.

*Children do not use the chat function.

*Children are mindful of their background.
