Activity Area – The Grand Opening!

We were delighted to welcome into school Mr Boardman (Chair of Governors), Mrs Stacey (PTA Chair) and Kristian Thomas (Olympic Gymnast) to open our new Activity Area today!

The weather held for us to join together to celebrate the success of the school community in raising funds for our new play equipment.  Kristian Thomas talked to the children about his career, showed them his 2012 Bronze Olympic medal and even showed off some of his gymnastic moves (can you spot the Head teacher being leapt over?!).

The children have all had their ‘first go’ on the play equipment and thoroughly enjoyed the grand opening.  Thank you to everyone.

Obviously in order to write an accurate risk assessment and to ensure the equipment is safe for tomorrow someone needed to have ‘the first go’!!

Big Pedal

We discussed Road Safety in assembly this morning.  We focused on how to keep safe when walking to school and the value of travelling to school on foot, bicycle or scooter!

Two small clips we watched this morning may support you as parents to have conversations at home:

Sun Protection

Dear Parents and Carers,

Finally we have had some bright weather! Please can we use this as an opportunity to remind you that we would appreciate you sending necessary sun protection to school with your child. We would recommend sun hats and sun cream. Please remember staff cannot apply sun cream and we would advise you apply it to your child before they come to school or that you talk to your child about appropriate application during the school day it you are happy for them to do it themselves. If you send sun cream to school with your child we will assume you are happy for them to apply it themselves.

Please can we also remind you that children should have their own water bottle so that they can refill this during the school day.

Please make sure that sun hats, sun cream and water bottles are labelled with your child’s name to avoid confusion.

Best wishes
