Just some useful reminders for those of you who are already thinking ahead to what children will need for September:
NAMING ITEMS!
Please ensure all items that are brought to school are named! You can do this with a pen or if you use the company below a % will go to our PTA:
UNIFORM
A copy of our uniform policy: Uniform Policy Please remember that we understand costs are high and our uniform policy does allow items to be purchased that do not display the school logo. We also have a great supply of pre loved uniform that will be on sale during our Open Evening if you would like to purchase (items 50p-£2 each).
PE kit is also detailed in this policy.
WATER BOTTLES
We do ask that a water bottle is brought to school each day.
SCHOOL BAGS
Must fit into a locker! Please ensure they are no larger than an average backpack.
STATIONERY
If your child can bring to school a pencil case with some stationery this will help us and them to ensure they have what they need at all times. In their pencil case we recommend: pencils, blue biro, ruler, rubber, sharpener and glue stick. Please name everything!
SWIMMING KIT
All children will require a swimming kit: costume/trunks, towel and swimming cap.
BEECH’s BASE
All children will visit Beech’s Base once a half term. On this day they will be required to wear old clothes (they are very likely to get muddy!) that have long sleeves and full length. They need to have waterproofs and wellies too.
This workshop will support parents to understand exploitation of young people, signs to look out for and how to respond. It is a requirement for Telford and Wrekin schools to offer this to parents and carers.
This will be a very information session led by PC Ridgewell. Please do come along.
Newport Rotary Club recently organised a writing competition for our Year 6 children. The challenge was to produce a newspaper front cover with interesting articles!
All children entered and have been presented with a certificate from Newport Rotary.
Our winners for their writing were: Abigail, Georgia and Ruby.
Members of the Rotary visited us in school this week to talk about their work and present the awards.
Thank you to Newport Rotary for this opportunity.
As previously advised all lost property was sorted for Open evening and on display at the front of school.
All remaining lost property is now in pre loved uniform for PTA sale or on its way to charity.
Please ensure all items that come to school are named to avoid an accumulation of lost property.
Thank you for your support.

Thursday 20th July will be ‘Year 6 Leavers Day’ with a range of activities planned for Year 6 to mark their last week at NJS.
The day will run as follows:
9am: Leavers Church Service at St Nicholas’ Church. This is a whole school service. Year 6 parents and carers only are able to attend and we ask that this is limited to a maximum of 2 per Year 6 pupil.
Back in school the children will have the opportunity to have their shirts signed! Please send the children with a spare item of NJS uniform that you are happy for them to have signed by staff and friends. Please can children bring a Sharpie or other appropriate pen for them to be able to do this (they will not be able to use school stationery).
Leavers Lunch: Year 6 will be deciding the lunch menu with the catering team! The menu will be announced soon! This menu will apply to the whole school.
3.30-5pm: Leavers Party! All Year 6 pupils are invited to a Leavers Party with the NJS staff team. The children can bring a change of clothing (this should include trainers and comfortable clothing) for this party. The children will take part in activities they have chosen with staff members and then be treated to chips and ice cream for a party tea!
We have a Year 6 Leavers Service at Church on Thursday morning.
All children need to go straight to church. Church will be open from 8.30am for children to arrive.
The leavers service is only open to current Year 6 pupils parents/carers: two maximum per child.
Thank you for your support.
