Please can we urgently ask all families to check that their ParentPay accounts are in credit for school meals.
We will shortly begin contacting you directly if you are in arrears for these to be cleared before the end of term.
A reminder to our families that at NJS we do promote excellent attendance. We know the difference that high attendance makes to a child’s social and academic progress.
Please find below a reminder of our cluster attendance leaflet:
We finish for the Summer Holidays on Friday 21st July.
We return following the Summer Break on Wednesday 6th September.
A reminder that term dates can always be found on our website: https://newportjuniorschool.org.uk/home/joining/term-dates/
A reminder that we are holding our annual open evening on Thursday 13th July from 3.30-6pm.
School will be open for you to visit with your child. You do not need to make an appointment. Access will be through the security gate at the front of school.
Class teachers will be in their classrooms. You will have the opportunity to view your child’s books in their current classroom and chat with their current teacher. You are also encouraged to visit your child’s new classroom (Years 2, 3, 4 and 5) to see the room and meet the new teacher.
We look forward to seeing you.

Thank you for keeping our school site safe.
Thursday 20th July will be ‘Year 6 Leavers Day’ with a range of activities planned for Year 6 to mark their last week at NJS.
The day will run as follows:
9am: Leavers Church Service at St Nicholas’ Church. This is a whole school service. Year 6 parents and carers only are able to attend and we ask that this is limited to a maximum of 2 per Year 6 pupil.
Back in school the children will have the opportunity to have their shirts signed! Please send the children with a spare item of NJS uniform that you are happy for them to have signed by staff and friends. Please can children bring a Sharpie or other appropriate pen for them to be able to do this.
Leavers Lunch: Year 6 will be deciding the lunch menu with the catering team! The menu will be announced soon! This menu will apply to the whole school.
3.30-5pm: Leavers Party! All Year 6 pupils are invited to a Leavers Party with the NJS staff team. The children can bring a change of clothing (this should include trainers and comfortable clothing) for this party. The children will take part in activities they have chosen with staff members and then be treated to chips and ice cream for a party tea!
The majority of our Year 6 pupils spent the day at Secondary School on Wednesday: we have been pleased to hear of their positive experiences on their return to NJS. We are incredibly proud of their resilience and positivity with this transition to Key Stage 3. We hope those still to attend their Secondary Schools have equally positive days and look forward to hearing about them.
We were delighted to welcome current Year 2 pupils into our Year 3 classes on Wednesday. They were wonderful! We had a great day getting to know them and believe they are going to make excellent NJS pupils. We are very much looking forward to welcoming them in September.
Years 3, 4 and 5 spent Wednesday in their new classes. We are really proud of them all, there was a great mood around school and lots of excitement for new adventures in the next academic year.
Huge thanks to the Guardians of Safety and Mrs Ollerenshaw for helping to prepare us all for the transition day with their assembly on Tuesday.
Thank you to everyone for their support.

Not long now until the annual Newport Show!
We are delighted that the show committee have announced the NJS winners for the annual Year 6 photography competition! All Year 6 children visited the Deer Park for the day and took part in a photography competition. All children submitted a photograph and these will be on display in the Education Marquee on show day. The committee have judged the photographs and our top three photographers are:
Abigail
George
Georgia
All three will shortly receive a family ticket to Newport Show and an invitation to a presentation, on show day, at 11am where they will receive their prizes. The winning photographs will feature in the show programme.
A member of the show committee collected our potatoes this week! We’re not confident in our crop but nonetheless have enjoyed the challenge! You can view all of the crops produced by the Newport Schools in the Education Marquee.
Please also remember this competition if you attend show day and support NJS!
