Dear Parents and Carers,

I am just emailing to thank you for your support this week. It is never easy closing a school but all we can do is follow the guidance issued to us by the Assistant Director for Education and Corporate Parenting at Telford and Wrekin Council.

This afternoon she has issued schools with the following forecast:

‘The last of the snow clearing northwards early on Saturday. Drier for a time in the afternoon, before slightly milder air brings a mix of rain, sleet and snow up from the south. This precipitation could perhaps leave a wet cm or so of accumulation where it fall as snow. Variable amounts of cloud and a few showers around on Sunday. A little more settled and dry through Monday and Tuesday, with cold nights again which could bring frost and freezing fog, although less cold than of late. Temperatures are expected to fall below zero each night.’

Therefore (thank goodness!) we fully expect NJS to be open as usual on Monday.

On advice from Telford and Wrekin Council we will be closed tomorrow.  We apologise for any inconvenience but hope we are providing sufficient notice.

NJS Book Day will now be on Thursday 15th March (following the Year 5 trip to Arthog and Year 4 trip to Manor Adventure) so please save your costumes!

The children at NJS  had a super day thinking about their future careers. They had talks from Nationwide, an Environmental Consultant, an Accountant, Newport Vets, Hospital Healthcare, Henshalls Insurance, a London firefighter, a paramedic, a university lecturer of law, the Mayor of Telford and Wrekin, a magistrate, a Carpenter/Environmentalist and F4TF.

On behalf of NJS we would like to thank all that supported the day.

We were delighted that 3 NJS pupils made it to the final of the Shropshire Young Thinkers Competition; One Thing I Would Change.  Henry, Abi and Mabel presented their ideas to a panel last Thursday and should be very proud of their success.  Henry was a runner up in the competition winning a £25 voucher.

The pictures show them having received medals at The Newport Swimming Club annual presentation evening. The medals were all won at the club championships held last year.
