4M – Wednesday 6th September

We have had a fab day getting to know each other, and all the children have made a great first impression!!

Today we have completed a Maths lesson, chosen new reading books and sorted reading diaries, completed our home-link books for September and voted for our class book which we have started to read ” The Toilet of Doom!”

The children have been set a small piece of homework that needs to be ready for Friday morning. If they wish to become 4M’s School Council representative or 4M’s Sports Ambassador, they need to prepare a small speech which they will read to the rest of the class. The rest of the class will then vote in a democratic way (part of our PSHE work) for their chosen representatives. I am fully aware this is not for everyone – but please encourage your chid to take part. If they do not wish to do a speech they could present a small PowerPoint that they could share – this can be emailed to me.

I have spoken to the children about their reading books and they have all been issued a Yr 4 reading book (grey sticker banded) their other reading book is a free choice book from home. Both need to be with the children each day. The children have also been given their reading diaries, which they can complete each time they read – parents please can I ask that following the school policy you also complete these, at least three times per week, listening to your child read.

Please can we all be aware of the weather this week – sunhats, sun cream and drinks bottles are needed as we have some children with out.

If anyone has any problems queries then please do not hesitate to contact me on ben.moody@taw.org.uk

kindest regards

Year 4 Welcome Back!!

The year 4 team are really looking forward to welcoming the children back to school on Wednesday. We hope you have enjoyed a rest over the summer break.

Just a gentle reminder that on Wednesday we are expecting the children to return to school with their pencil case, water bottle and P.E Kit. Children may also wish to bring a free choice reading book with them from home.

With the hot weather being forecast, we advise bringing sun hats and sun cream. We will share PE times and other dates via the children’s home link books which will be issued on Wednesday.

During the next few days we will be sorting our roles such as Worship Leaders, School Council and Sports Ambassadors – children may wish to begin thinking about a short speech they would like to deliver, if they feel confident enough to put themselves forward for any of these roles.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

If you need any of us please feel free to contact us via email.

Golfing Hero’s!

Owen and Tyler played in the Shropshire and Herefordshire Union Golf Club opening Peewee Tournament game yesterday at Oswestry. They’ll play 9 holes at 5 courses across the two counties between yesterday and the final one on the 14th August.

They both played really well and showed great mental resilience when it wasn’t going so well and the scores appeared to be against them.

The boys both play at different clubs so it was a real coincidence they were drawn to play together today.

Well done boys – great representation for NJS!!
