Year 5 Gate Trial!

Year 5 Parents and Carers,

From Monday 12th July we would like to trial use of the Year 5 gates for your children to enter and exit from school.

We therefore ask that from Monday your children arrive at school up the entrance opposite One Dental (the gate through which they currently exit) and wait at the double green gates in front of them where Year 5 staff will open them at 8.45am.

Year 5 will also be dismissed from these gates at 3.10pm from Monday onwards.

The Year 5 team will talk to your children about this routine before Monday so they are confident with what to do.

Thank you for your support.

‘It’s Coming Home!’

We received this funny email from a parent today and thought it may make you all smile!

Dear  Mr M

I want to apologise in advance for this Thursday 8th July. My child is  likely to be overtired, emotional wreck and will probably be walking around school in a half-asleep state whilst muttering about three lions under his breath. I’m not entirely sure he’ll be his full, sunny best and complicated maths sums will be a no-go zone unless it’s related to the numbers on the back of Southgate’s boy’s shirts. You might even find that during English he’ll be absent-mindedly doodling “Its coming home” over and over again in the corner of his book instead of getting on with the task at hand. (From my perspective, as long as he spells it right I think his punishment for this should be limited.)

Myself, my X yr old son and his dad all sat around the table to have a level, mature discussion about the situation earlier. We weighed up the pros and cons of letting them stay up 3+ hours past their bed-time to watch England smash Denmark on a school night and I’m afraid the decision was unanimous.

The truth is – ⚽️ITS COMING HOME⚽️ and he is absolutely  right in saying I’d be a super mean mum if I denied him the experience of witnessing that.

I promise to go right back to prioritising his  emotional well-being when it comes to his 8pm bed-time on Thursday night and he should be half human by lunch-time on Friday. Having said that, we might need to consider whether he’ll even be able to attend school on Monday considering we’re actually physically BRINGING it home on Sunday night. 🏆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️ Celebrations are likely to run into the early hours but we can cross that bridge when we come to it right? 😉😁

Thanks for your understanding on the matter. I know we all ultimately want what’s best for the kids and I truly feel that what’s best for them in this situation, is to get to live the full ‘ITS COMING HOME’ experience – thus ending the 30 years of hurt they’ve been carrying around with them since before they were born.

Kind regards,

Mum

Move Up Day!

Staffing and transition letter to parents

Just a reminder of the letter we issued a couple of weeks ago informing you of our staffing and transition arrangements for Years 3, 4 and 5.

Children will spend Friday afternoon with their new class teachers for September.

We ask for your support in talking positively to your children about the new opportunities change can bring and of course reassuring them about any of their concerns.  Children completed a short list of friends they would like to be with in their new classes and we have accommodated this to the best of our ability!

We hope that the children enjoy time with their new class teacher and class mates on Friday.  If children feel ‘uncertain’ when they come home on Friday please reassure them, draw out the positives from their experiences and let your current class teacher know that they may need further support/reassurances.

Thank you for your support.

Sports Day: Thank you!

It has made me ‘beam’ this week to see parents/carers in school supporting their children on Sports Day.  The children have been so excited to have you in school; it has been very special.

Thank you to all of the adults who have attended for coming to support the children and for keeping to the rules which has helped us enormously.

Thank you to the staff; who even in the current circumstances were committed to make these events happen.

We are looking forward to the Year 6 event on Monday 19th July.
