As you will all be aware Year 6 children across England have been taking the Statutory assessments this week. The Department of Education ask a lot of our 10 and 11 year old children in managing a week of assessment tests. As a school our thoughts are to rise to this challenge but to prioritise the wellbeing of our pupils at all times. Unfortunately these tests won’t recognise the fantastic friends, amazing artists, marvellous musicians or successful sportsmen amongst our children; but as a school we firmly recognise these talents.
Our school community should be very proud of ALL of our Year 6 pupils: they have been excellent this week. They have been resilient, positive and motivated young people who at all times have tried their very best. This is all we can ask and we are so proud of them all.
The NJS team hope they have enjoyed the week. We hope breakfast club, magic sweets, biscuits, extra play and PE have made the challenges of the week manageable. I would like to thank all of the NJS staff team for the support they have given our Year 6 children, whether it be this week or during their junior school journey, they have all made a positive difference to our children.
Thank you to parents and carers who have supported NJS, by working together we give our children excellent opportunities.
Most of all thank you to our Year 6 children for making all of our hard work worthwhile: seeing your resilience, positivity and support for each other in action makes us very proud.

Year 6 have received their leavers’ hoodies today, a huge thank you to our amazing PTA for their efforts in fundraising for these over the last 12 months.
We would like to remind the children of the messages they heard today:
The children look amazing and are all very happy with their new hoody, what a lovely treat at the end of SAT week!
Unfortunately the till for school meals went down on Friday so meals that were taken on Friday will show on your Parent Pay account as taken on Bank Holiday Monday instead!
We apologise for any confusion.
Parents and Carers
As previously communicated to our families we are proud of our club offer at NJS: all free and run by our own team.
In exchange for this offer all we ask is that our families keep up to date with messages communicated, via our website, about club dates and times. Each Friday we issue confirmation of the clubs running the following week, we ask that families check in on this and confirm with their child what they will be doing the following week.
Unfortunately it is proving a pressure on staff having to make phone calls to parents where children state they don’t know if their parent knows their club is on etc. We need your support.
Please ensure you check Facebook and the website each Friday so you know what to expect the following week.
We thank you for your support.
