Please can we remind Years 5 and 6 parents and carers that the pantomime visit is taking place on Thursday and we still have some who have not returned permission slips. Please return these to school tomorrow.

Just to confirm that children are welcome to bring Christmas Cards into school!
There are post boxes in each year group for children to place their cards in: please can you help your child to ensure they are clearly labelled with the recipients full name (and ideally class) so we can ensure they get to where they need to go!
Thank you for your support.
Parents who park on Avenue Road during drop off and collection times please be aware of where you leave your car.
Please make sure you are not stopping safe use of pavements and impacting on other parents and children crossing the road to get to school.
Thank you.
The Reading Agency is teaming up with the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), to launch a Winter Mini reading Challenge.
Following the success of the summer reading challenge, the winter challenge encourages children to continue reading over the winter holidays with a free, digital platform offering rewards and prizes. The Reading Agency previously collaborated with WWF, one of the world’s largest independent conservation organisations, and came up with the summer reading challenge’s theme of Wild World Heroes.
The Wild World characters will be going on an Arctic adventure to explore and celebrate the natural world. Following the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow, the theme aims to inspire children to explore ways of helping to save the planet and tackling environmental issues.
The Winter Mini Challenge is run through The Reading Agency’s digital platform and to complete it, children read three or more books of their own choice, add it to their Challenge website profile and leave a short book review. The challenge will launch on 1st December and run until 16th February.
As you are aware we have pantomime visits arranged for next week to Oakengates theatre to see Aladdin.
Wednesday 8th December: Year 3 and 4J
Thursday 9th December: Year 5 and Year 6
As 4NJ and 4P are aware where a class has a number of COVID cases the Health Hub will not allow us to take part in such a visit. At the moment all classes can attend but 4P and 4NJ (we have planned a fun day in school for them instead and they have a separate letter with details of this).
The letter above, that you received earlier in the term, explains some details you need to know.
COVID arrangements for the visit:
*Bubbles will not mix on coaches.
*Bubbles will not mix in the theatre: Oakengates are creating a seating plan so that class groups sit together.
*We will not mix with other schools or audience members: we have staggered arrival times and seating appropriately spaced.
*Adults will wear face coverings throughout the performance. (Children are not requested to wear a face covering however if this is your preference we advise that this is kept in your child’s coat pocket and that you direct your child as to when you want them to use it: staff will not oversee this.)
*Anyone with COVID symptoms must not attend.
*We recommend that staff and children attending the pantomime take an LFT on the day of the visit.
*Hand sanitiser will be used throughout the visit.
If you do not want your child to attend this visit please let your class teacher know: we will accommodate them in school and they can be collected at 3.15pm as usual.
The PTA are kindly providing snacks for the visit which will be given to the children in the interval: a small bag of Haribo and a small bag of mini cookies. If you have a concern about allergies please contact your class teacher. All children will be asked to take their own water bottle.
Thank you for your support.
Please note the above menu that runs until Friday 10th December.
Christmas dinner will be served on these dates:
Monday 13th December: Year 3
Tuesday 14th December: Year 4
Wednesday 15th December: Year 5
Thursday 16th December: Year 6
On Friday 17th December Fish & Chips will be on the menu for all.
If your child wishes to have a Christmas dinner the usual charge applies which can be paid online at: https://www.telford.gov.uk/info/20799/pay_for_school_meals or cash can be sent into school in a named envelope.
On your child’s Christmas Dinner Day they may wear a Christmas jumper and/or hat if they wish to (this is in place of their school jumper and the rest of their uniform should be worn).
Thank you for your support.
Mrs M
This amazing resource is completely free and provides a fun, engaging and Christmassy activity for children each day in the run up to Christmas. A great way to look after our wellbeing first thing in the morning or before bed!
Parents and Carers
We have sent some communication out previously about our plans for Christmas performances but I wanted to finalise these with you now. Dates:
Tuesday 7th December 6pm Year 3 at NJS
Thursday 9th December 6pm Year 4 at NJS
Monday 13th December 6.30pm Year 5 at St Nicholas’ Church
Tuesday 14th December 6.30pm Year 6 as St Nicholas’ Church
PLEASE NOTE: If any bubbles have a COVID ‘outbreak’ then performances will need to be ‘cancelled’ and we will advise you of this as soon as we are able. The alternative will be that full performances will be filmed for you to view from home. Year groups will also perform highlights of their ‘show’ on the playground at 2pm on the day their performance is planned (the controls outlined below would also apply in the event of an outdoor performance).
GUIDANCE FOR THOSE ATTENDING LIVE PERFORMANCES AT NJS:
*Strictly one adult per NJS child. STRICTLY NO siblings will be permitted. Please don’t bring along any siblings as we will unfortunately have to turn you away which will be disappointing for you and your child. (All performances will be filmed and shared as we are aware that many family members would have wished to attend.)
*We ask that no one attends the performance who is displaying COVID symptoms: cough, loss of taste/smell or temperature.
*Please wear a face covering. (If you are exempt from wearing a face covering please wear a lanyard to indicate this).
*Please sanitise your hands on arrival and sit in the allocated seats as positioned (chairs will be distanced).
*We would prefer that all audience members take an LFT test the day of the performance.
*External doors will be kept open throughout the performance to allow for good ventilation: please dress appropriately as it will feel cool.
*At the end of the performance we ask all audience members to remain in their seat: children will be dismissed to you one:one to avoid any crowding.
Thank you for your support in enabling the performances to go ahead whilst keeping our school community safe.
Mrs M
