Just a quick message to say that children whose parents have not signed them up on ParentPay for the Hands-On Science day, have today been sent a reminder information letter about the day. We would strongly encourage you to sign them up, so that the visiting team can run the workshop, and a reminder that without enough voluntary contributions to the cost of the workshop, it cannot take place at all.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please ensure your children have the correct PE kit for their lessons. Recently many children have come to school without any PE kit, without shorts, without trainers, or other essentials. This is a key part of their education and we want them to fully engage with this subject, which is not possible if they have incorrect / no kit. Thank you to all children who have been bringing their kits regularly on a Monday, and taking home on a Friday.

We have been made aware that some of our children may have been included in a WhatsApp group called ‘Lets Make the Biggest Group in the UK’.

Please ensure, if your child has a phone, that you are checking it daily and supporting your child with safe use.

We would also like to remind you that WhatsApp is only suitable for children aged 13+.

We would like to send a gentle reminder to parents and carers about the importance of children bringing their swimming kit to school on their allocated swimming day. Year 6 swim every Tuesday.

Swimming is an important part of our PE curriculum and a valuable life skill. By the end of Key Stage 2, children are expected to be able to swim confidently for at least 25 metres and develop important water safety skills.

We have noticed that an increasing number of children are arriving without their swimming kit, which means they are unable to take part in these important curriculum sessions. We therefore ask that families please help children to remember their kit each week.

We understand that some children may have worries or concerns about swimming. If this is the case, please speak to your child’s class teacher. We can often make simple adjustments, such as allowing a T-shirt to be worn, to help children feel more comfortable taking part.

If your child is unable to swim for medical reasons, we ask that parents/carers send a note to make the class teacher aware of the issue.
