Boys Computing Club (Thursdays) – apologies

Dear Parents,

Unfortunately, due to the large number of replies generally, I was unable to finalise a number of children for computing club, for which I apologise.

The maximum number of boys I can take will be 20. Any unsuccessful children will be automatically put forward to the Summer club, which is open to boys and girls.

Any children who asked to attend will bring home a slip, informing you whether there is space for them to attend, by the end of Tuesday.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,

Mr Butler.

1st February Music morning and MFL visit to Burton Borough

Today, we were visited by Miss Simpson from TACT and she delivered a musical theatre workshop for all children.

Yr6 children learned how to sing Circle of Life and performed the song fantastically well.

This afternoon, the whole of Yr6 walked round to Burton Borough to have some French and Spanish taster lessons. Lessons were led by Mrs Irvine-Remson, Mrs Morgan and Mrs Reciogarcia. Thank you to the MFL department of Burton Borough for welcoming us in to the school and for providing some very enjoyable lessons.

Year 3 Spellings and Homework to be tested Friday 8th February

Dear Parents,

This week, and from now on, Class 3B will have their spelling tests and homework due date as a THURSDAY. Therefore, children in 3B need to get their homework done and spelling learned for Thursday 7th February next week.

Class 3P and 3J spelling / homework due dates will remain with the same days that they are currently using. Please contact your class’s teacher if you are unsure.

Please help your children learn their spellings by writing each word out several times, playing games with them (hangman, spelling tennis etc).

Children will be tested on their 3x, 4x and 5x tables this week during Times tables Rock Stars (TTRS) and during their ‘in school’ tests. We would like them to be allowed to access TTRS at least 5 mins every day, if possible.

Week 5 Year 3 Spelling and homework to be tested 8.2.19

Homework this week is a verb tenses sheet. Please support your child to complete this.

Thank you.

Yr6 spellings due 6th February 2019

To support with understanding definitions for spellings, the ‘Collins children’s cobuild dictionary’ is a very useful tool.

Yr6 homework due 6th February 2019

Read at least 3 times and ask an adult to sign your reading diary to confirm.

Learn your spellings. Complete detailed sentences and definitions in your homework book.

Complete the decimal calculation activity. Children will be choosing an appropriate challenge, either 1*, 2* or 3*. All task will be visible on website.

Homework

This week for homework we would like the children to create a poster to raise the awareness of staying safe on the internet. Next Tuesday, it is ‘Safer Internet Day’ and with more and more children accessing the internet, we are hoping to create a display out of them.

Alongside the poster, the children will need to read three times to an adult.

If they could access times tables rock stars during the next week as well.

Finally, they will be coming home with a new set of spellings due to be tested next Friday (8th February).

Homework is due in either Monday 4th or Tuesday 5th of February.

Collection Tomorrow

Year 2 are joining us tomorrow afternoon for our Celebration Assembly.  They will be dismissed from the playground at 3.25pm.

We just wanted to make you aware that the playground will be busier than usual and to ask that you allow year 2 parents to collect before NJS is dismissed at 3.30pm.

Thank you!

Cake Stall Reminder!

There is a PTA Cake Stall this Friday – donations of home baked or shop bought cup cakes, tray bakes etc would be greatly appreciated.

Cakes will be sold at Fri pick-up for £1 a plate.

Thank you for supporting our PTA.

Cold Weather Clothing!

Please can we remind parents and carers that whilst the weather is cold we appreciate children coming to school with coats, hats, scarfs, gloves etc. to keep them warm when they are able to get out at break and lunchtimes.

Please ensure all items of clothing bought into school are labelled with their name!
