4OP Remembrance

Children in 4OP have tied ribbons on to the railings by the playground to remember the soldiers that fought in WW1.  In English this week we have read the story ‘Flo of the Somme’ and today, 4OP have enjoyed learning about the symbolism of red, white, purple and black poppies.

4OP Violin Letter

The children in 4OP are coming home with a letter to explain about a violin performance on Wednesday 29th November at 10am.

We hope to see you there! The children are so excited to share what they have been doing in their weekly violin lessons.

4M Forest Fun Session 7/11/23

Miss Lockwood and Miss Smith kindly took 4M to Beech’s Base today, where the children continued with their Roman topic, making Roman porridge and moved on with their Science topic – Sound – making their own musical instruments from recycled bottle tops, sticks and string!

4M Travel Workshop

4M had a great morning with a Be Bright Be Seen workshop! The children looked at how to stay safe with the darker evenings and mornings.

They conducted an Science experiment to test which fluorescent colour would be the best to wear! After the investigation, the children concluded that fluorescent yellow was the best. After such a great workshop, the children have all been given a pair of bright gloves to wear during the darker season.

4M Beech’s Base 7/11/23

Just a reminder to all the parents of children in 4M – we have Beech’s Base with Miss Lockwood on Tuesday 7/11. All children can come to school in their forest clothing.
We have a “Be Bright, Be Seen” travel workshop first thing, followed by Literacy after break, with Beech’s Base in the afternoon.

Many thanks

4M – 500 Words Story Writing Competition

Morning Parents

Before half term I sent home parts of the children’s work for typing up and submitting for The BBC 500 Words Competition, which is something all children at NJS have been involved in preparing for across the last half term. The closing date is approaching and we need parental help to submit entries before the closing date of Friday 10th November. At present 4M only have two stories entered!!

Details about the competition and where to submit cab be found via this link:

500 Words Competition

The children have their stories planned and written – they just need to type it up and then submit – with your help – to the website above.

Ideally I would also like to receive copies of their stories and the certificates they receive for entering, so I can put them into their English books here at school.

Please support your child where you can or let me know and I can get a laptop for them to use one lunchtime!

Many thanks for your support

Mr M
