This week in 4J…

Well 4J… what a week we have had! We have been busy in all areas of the curriculum!

In maths, we started the week looking at negative numbers and roman numerals. Those pesky Romans wanted to confused but we wouldn’t let them! We know the tricky numbers are 4, 40, 400, 9, 90 and 900!

In English, we started the week researching penguins or polar bears. This then led to the children looking at how valuable diagrams are (see below picture). The children ended the week with a non-chronological report (see below picture).

I wonder what we will get up to next week 4J?

Enjoy your weekend!

4S Aboriginal Art Work

To encourage us to relax and take some time to unwind 4S have created some watercolour aboriginal pictures.

Year 4 Science

For our science  lessons (about light) for the next couple of weeks we will be working with torches. If you have a torch at home you could let your child borrow please could you send it in labelled with your child’s name and preferably with batteries!!

This will allow the children to independently explore the topics we have planned by experimenting – the best way to become a  true scientist.

Thank you in advance,

Mrs Sisson

Yoga in 4J!

To celebrate world mental health day on Saturday 10th October, 4J went to complete some yoga! We had a great time retelling the story of Star Wars (Episode 4) in yoga poses. Have a look at our moves below…

This week in 4J!

Well… what a great week we have had! 4J have been learning lots of new skills in all areas of the curriculum.

In science, the children were looking at how the eye works! They were able to explain many parts of the eye including the retina and iris.

We were looking at reading longitude and latitude in topic (which was quite tricky). But… we persevered through it and found lots of places using a world map!

In maths, the children were looking at how to round to 10, 100 and 1000. Below you will find a couple of videos that explain our method.

Have a lovely weekend 4J! Well done for working super hard!
