Half term homework!

When we return to school, it is national Peace week to celebrate the end of the First World War. Therefore, we are asking the children to research a local war hero… Wilfred Owen. They can decide what they would like to research and can present it in a poster or a fact file. The purpose of this will help support our Literacy as we explore two boys who grew up and went to war together. The research will help children recognise a real life perspective of WW1.

Spellings Wk 9

On top of this, the spellings are continuing to look into plurals. They will be tested on their spellings the first Friday back.

Even though it is half term, the children are still expected to read at least 3 times a week with an adult and record their reading in their diaries.

Homework is due in Monday 5th or Tuesday 6th of November.

Have a great week off!

Homework – Week 8

This week the children’s spellings are all plurals ending with an es.

For homework the children are focusing on adverbs. They have 5 sentences where they need to identify the adverb within. Then, they need to put the 5 adverbs into their own sentences (remembering full stops and capital letters).

The homework will be due in Monday 22nd or Tuesday 23rd of October.

Due to finishing school for half term on Thursday, the spelling test will be brought forward to Thursday 25th October.

Have a great weekend!

Homework – Week 5!

Spellings Wk 5

As well as the children’s spellings, they will be focusing on learning the 6 times tables.

We would like the children to do some research this week.

What are the Northern Lights? Where can they be seen? Why do they take place? You can present what you have found out however you like. (Homework book, poster, presented on a computer etc.)

We are going to give children 2 weeks to work on this project.

Homework is due Monday 8th or Tuesday 9th of October.

Next week the children will only be given spellings for the following week.

Homework – Week 4!

Please see the spellings attached for each group. The children will be tested next Friday (28.09.18).

Homework

Continue to read at least three times this week at home and record in in your reading diary. Learn your 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10x tables.

In your homework book, using 24 as your target number, show as many different ways you can reach this number using + – x and ÷. For example: 6 x 4 = 24. 45 – 21 = 24

Welcome back!

Welcome back to what we hope is going to be a fantastic year at NJS!

We’ve had such a great day with the children and enjoyed hearing all about their summer holidays.

P.E for this term:

4J will be Tuesday and Friday

4S will be Thursday and Friday

4F will be Monday and Friday

Homework

Homework and spellings are due to be handed out on a Friday and will also be put onto the website. We would like the children to bring it back homework on Monday or Tuesday the following week. We will test them on their spellings the following Friday.

Homework also includes reading 3 times at home over the week with an adult. This will be checked every Tuesday in their reading diaries.

Design and Technology

The children are due to start their D&T topic next Wednesday. We are asking for anny materials you see fit to build a polar shelter (Not life size)! We would advise not to bring toilet rolls and would suggest materials such as: cardboard, tissue paper, twigs, fabric etc. We are kindly asking for these to be in school by Tuesday 11th September.
