I hope parents find the following two documents useful. the first is a leaflet explaining all about how we teach reading at Newport Junior School. It gives tips on how you can support your child at home with their reading.
The second document has a bank of useful comments to help parents when filling in the Reading Diary at home. There are some useful comments in the leaflet to support parents who are not sure what to comment on when they have listened to their child read.

Hopefully all children have been given a reading book by their teacher by now and they should be bringing this home every night along with their reading diary for you to sign and record their reading at home.
We request that children read at least three times a week to an adult at home.
