NJS will REOPEN Wednesday 13th December

I am delighted and relieved that we are able to open school tomorrow!  Advice from Telford and Wrekin is that weather conditions will now ease and we can plan for a return.

Please find below a plan for the next three days:

Wednesday

  • Depending on the weather in the morning you may still wish to send your child in wellies/old shoes with their school shoes in their bag.  Again dependent upon the weather a spare set of clothes may also be useful in bags.
  • Christmas Jumper day as planned.  Children may wear uniform but replace their green jumper with a Christmas jumper for £1 for Save the Children.
  • Years 5 and 6 – please go STRAIGHT TO CHURCH in the morning for your performance rehearsal.
  • Years 3 and 4 – please go STRAIGHT TO SCHOOL in the morning.  Please follow the footpaths marked by Mr Matthews our Caretaker and do NOT wait on the yard go straight into your classrooms which will be open from 8.30am.
  • Christmas Dinner can go ahead as planned.  Please send (if you haven’t already) £2.10 for your child’s Christmas dinner if they would like to have one.
  • In the afternoon we will have the Year 6 Christmas Party.
  • 7pm at St Nicholas’ Church – The Year 5 and 6 Christmas performance.  All are welcome to come to watch this performance.  Please send a home link tomorrow to your class teacher if you are unable to bring your child to perform.

THURSDAY

  • 2pm and 6pm at NJS Year 3 children will perform their Christmas play.

FRIDAY

  • Years 3, 4 and 5 will hold their Christmas parties in the school day.

As I have said throughout the week, I apologise for the inconvenience.  Hopefully we have managed to rearrange everything missed over the last two days so that children can still enjoy Christmas celebrations before we finish school.

Thank you to you all for your ongoing support; it is appreciated by myself and the rest of the team.

NJS is CLOSED on Tuesday 12th December

This afternoon we have received advice from Telford and Wrekin council following the forecast for this evening.

They are concerned about traffic on the roads at ‘rush hour’ and pathways at and around school due to the extremely cold temperatures.  The cold temperatures will mean gritting could remain ineffective for a time.

In consultation with other local Heads I have again had to make the difficult decision to close the school tomorrow.  It is not ideal but we again need to take the advice given and put safety first.

I’m going to learn from yesterday and not be ‘Little Miss Organised’!  I will be in touch with rearrangements once I know we can safely reopen.

I can’t apologise enough – my head knows safety first but my heart wants to do Christmas!

Take care

Mrs Moody

NJS UPDATE

I am writing following the news earlier that our school is unfortunately closed tomorrow.  I apologise again for the inconvenience and hope that many of you are able to use the day to create snow memories with your children (we’d love to see pictures if you want to email them in!)

The year 5 and 6 performance tomorrow evening is cancelled.

I might regret cancelling our Year 5 and 6 concert tomorrow night as, knowing our country, this time tomorrow we could be enjoying a heat wave!  I have however made the decision with the best interests of the safety of staff and children.  Staff at St Nicholas’ Church have been very supportive and we have been able to rearrange for 7pm on Wednesday evening, we hope that you are able to join us.  Please write a home link message to your class teacher on Tuesday if your child is unable to attend the performance on Wednesday evening.

The Church service on Wednesday morning is now the Year 5 and 6 rehearsal for their performance.  Years 3 and 4 should go straight to school on Wednesday morning.

The Year 3 party will now be on Thursday afternoon joint with Year 4.

I can’t apologise enough for the inconvenience; I fully appreciate it is a busy time of year.  I hope you understand I am doing my best to keep us safe but to still ensure the children get to enjoy Christmas festivities!
