REMINDERS FOR THE SUMMER FAIR:
Children can wear mufti on Thursday in exchange for a filled jar. The jar could be filled with a small toy, crayons, wrapped sweets, hairbands… anything! (please no unwrapped food) The jar should be given to class teachers on arrival at school on Thursday morning.
Parents and carers are very welcome to attend the Summer Fair. The security gate will open at 2pm.
If you are attending you will be asked to collect your child from their stall where their class teacher will be: all classes will have a stall positioned around the field.
Once you have collected your child from their class teacher you can visit the fair together and may leave when you are ready.
If you are unable to attend then you may send your child to school with some money and they will have the opportunity to visit the fair with their teacher. These children will be dismissed as usual at 3.15pm.
Have you heard about the competition?!!! Classes have been set a challenges: who can design and sell a product and make the most profit at the Summer Fair! The competition is on! Teachers have been sending out information about their products for you to view.
In addition to the class stalls we also have:
We are looking forward to a fun afternoon and some great fundraising for School Fund.
Just a little taster of the wonderful Shrinky Dinks that will be on offer from 5N at the Summer Fair this Thursday!
Shrinky Dinks are drawings on special plastic that, once baked in the oven, shrink down to about 1/3 of their original size. It has been wonderful to see the children’s creations being turned into lovely little keyrings. Please come along and support our stall on Thursday!
Basic Shrinky Dinks – £1.50
Personalised Initials – £2.00
As we head towards the end of the 22/23 academic year we will be issuing the expected end of year reports.
Years 3, 4 and 5 school reports will be sent home on Monday 10th July.
Year 6 reports will be sent home on Tuesday 11th July (this is the date we expect to receive SAT results).
If your family circumstances mean that two copies are required for those with Parental Responsibility this request should have been made to njs.admin@taw.org.uk and we can arrange this for you.
Will include a summary of the child’s learning and progress across the curriculum. All subjects will have an assessment:
PK: Pre Key Stage
WTS: Working towards national/expected standard
EXS: working at the national/expected standard
GSD: Working above the expected/national standard
You will also have a personal comment and an attendance print out for the year to date. All reports contain a feedback sheet for your child and yourself to complete and return to school.
Your child’s report will also include the result from the Multiplication Check that was taken in June. More information about this check can be found in this parent guide: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1116420/2023_Information_for_parents_Multiplication_tables_check_Nov_22_PDFA.pdf
Within the body of your school report are contained teachers assessments of your child’s academic attainment. On a separate sheet you will have their SAT results. More details about these SAT results can be found in this booklet for parents: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1164740/2023_Information_for_parents_assessment_results_at_the_end_of_key_stage_2.pdf
If you wish to discuss the content of a report you can do so with your child’s class teacher at Open Evening or contact them to arrange another opportunity.
We are very proud of the children and how hard they have worked this year; we hope that the End of Year Reports celebrate their achievements.
At the summer fayre on Thursday, 6J will be selling personalised bag tags!
These can be attached to a number of items such as school bags, pencil cases, key rings or clothing zips.
These have all been made by the children in 6J and feature different words, phrases or coloured patterns.
These will be on sale for £1.50 per tag, or 2 for £2. A selection of the tags can be seen in the image below.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Just to confirm that on Monday there will be transition days for Newport Girls High School and for Idsall School NOT for Adams Grammar School.
Adams held there induction day last Friday.
Sorry for any confusion.
Lilleshall Squash and Racketball Club are looking for new members!!
This lovely, local club (based at Lilleshall Sports Centre) offers squash coaching to children between the ages of 5-17 every Saturday from 1pm. Adult coaching is also available straight after the children’s sessions at around 2pm.
Direct contact details for the club are on the flyer or please come and speak to Mrs Naylor (not a coach but a training member!) if you would like any further information 🙂
The PTA would like to encourage you wear mufti tomorrow and bring in £1 to go towards PTA funds.
Thank you.
Some children are taking risks as they travel to school not demonstrating road safety or awareness of other road users.
This is especially true of some children travelling on scooters or bikes to school and not wearing a helmet. Please make sure all children who are travelling to school always wear a helmet.
This advice comes from – https://brightkidz.co.uk/
Here are some practical tips for scooting safely.
Many of our scooters are using the busy main roads to scoot along rather than pavements.
Please can parents discuss this with children to ensure all children are safe on their way to and from school.
