Friday 24th – Wear Blue 4 a Loo

A reminder that all children are invited to wear BLUE clothing for a £1 donation tomorrow.

This is to support our efforts in raising money for Toilet Twinning – an official campaign to hep twin our NJS toilets with countries without access to toilet blocks or clean water.

Children are welcome to wear as much or as little blue as they like, and can bring blue wigs etc should they have them available.

Thank you for your support.

Design and Technology – Year 5!

Good morning,

Over the next couple of weeks, the children will be designing and making a bottle rocket! In order for the children to make the rockets, we are asking if you could possibly send any of the following materials into school:

Bottles – plastic – Large (2L) or small and a variety of sizes.

Carboard – varying thickness

Bottle corks (All shapes and sizes)

We can’t wait to show you our final products and we hope that they will fly in the air!

Many thanks,

The Year 5 Team

URGENT ARTHOG

Thank you to everyone who was understanding of the decision that was made this morning.  I am sure you appreciate we have to take the advice of many different professionals and that was unanimously to return home today due to the conditions in mid Wales.  Facebook will be updated with a return time once we have this but we anticipate this being 6pm onwards.  I would again like to express my thanks to everyone who has supported the Arthog residential especially Mr Moody, Mr Lawson, Mr Marsh, Mr Leonard, Mrs Yates and Mrs Wood.

Mrs M

I hope you are well.

I am emailing you following a very difficult decision that myself, our Chair of Governors, the Arthog Head, Telford and Wrekin, Hills Coaches and the Arthog Team have made over the last hour.

As you are aware we currently have snow falling and whilst it isn’t too bad in Newport or Arthog itself there is more significant snow in mid Wales. There is further significant snowfall expected over night which would make travel tomorrow extremely difficult.

We are mindful that if the group couldn’t travel back safely tomorrow we wouldn’t have the medication children need to remain at the centre as well as the resources at the site that would be needed. To attempt to travel tomorrow could also be increasingly risky. The safety of the staff and pupils needs to be our priority.

For the reasons above we have made the decision to bring the children back today. The coach company are aiming to arrive at Arthog ready to depart at 3pm and aim to be back at school for 6pm this evening.

Currently your children are enjoying a morning of activities, are well and having a great time!

A member of the NJS team will shortly telephone you to ensure you have this information.

We will update on return times on Facebook.

Please know this has been a hard decision but the children have had an amazing week and we need to ensure we return them to you safely. We are working with the Arthog Team to arrange a date before the end of the academic year to use their outreach facilities either on our NJS site or at their centre in Wellington to give them further Arthog experiences!

We thank you in advance of your support for the school and the amazing staff team who have accompanied this visit.

School is open tomorrow for your children and if you wish to bring them in later they can come into school up to 10am.
