NO MINDFULNESS CLUB THIS WEEK

A reminder that, as stated on the clubs list, there is no Mindfulness Club this week (tomorrow – Wednesday 14th Nov) as I am on a course. The children have been reminded in assemblies.

Make an information leaflet on fractions. This is a topic of maths we are starting next week so we want the children to share knowledge that they already have on fractions. This could be shown in a poster or as a leaflet.

Complete the division maths homework – children will choose either the 1*, 2* or 3* challenge to practise short division method.

Y6 spellings due 17th October

Due to the changes in the Literacy curriculum children in Year 6 are expected to be secure with all KS2 spellings. There will be no choice of spellings, in terms of degree of difficulty. All children, of all abilities, need to learn the following for next week:

actually extreme
certain height
history imagine
increase island
important accident

Please support your child to ensure spellings are recorded as accurately as possible in their homework books and they present their homework to a high standard. Also, there are no proper nouns, therefore there is no need for capitals apart from sentence work.

Complete maths activity – column multiplication – solve questions using formal method

Learn words for Harvest year group song – preparation for Harvest celebration in church on 18th October.

Maths homework is using column method and is set out as a 1*, 2* and 3* activity. Children will choose an appropriate challenge to bring home.

Spelling homework due 10th October

To support with understanding definitions for spellings, the ‘Collins Children’s Cobuild Dictionary’ is a very useful tool. There is an online version available.

Complete the activity on subordinate clause sentences. This is a one star, two star, three star activity, therefore, your child has chosen a challenge.
