Coronavirus advice for returning traveller has been updated on 25 February 2020

Advice has been has been updated for travellers who develop symptoms of cough or fever or shortness of breath and have returned, since 19th February from the expanded list of countries as follows:

• Northern Italy (north of but not including, Pisa, Florence and Rimini – maps of affected areas are available)
• Vietnam
• Cambodia
• Laos
• Myanmar
• Mainland China
• Thailand
• Japan
• Republic of Korea
• Hong Kong
• Taiwan
• Singapore
• Malaysia
• MacauThe advice below should be followed even if symptoms are minor:
• stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu
• call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the country

Advice has also been updated for travellers with NO SYMPTOMS returning from Wuhan and Hubei Province and now also an expanded list of countries and areas, including:

• Iran
• Specific lockdown cities in Northern Italy as designated by the Government of Italy – NB this is subject to change so please keep up-to-date on the locations here https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/italy/health
• Special care zones in South Korea (Daegu or Cheongdo) designated by the Government of the Republic of South Korea
• Wuhan City and Hubei province (returned in the past 14 days)
• The advice below should be followed immediately even if you do not have symptoms of the virus:

• stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu

Remember the Catch It, Bin It, Kill It messages:

• Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze.
• Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport.
• Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
