Year 4 Weekly Reminders for Week Commencing the 3rd of November

On the first week back after half term, the children will be swimming on Tuesday. They will need to bring in their swimming costumes, a swimming hat and towel. We will all be swimming in the morning.

Mr Lawson and I would like to thank all of the children for a wonderful first half term back. We hope the children have a great half term holiday. New homework will be handed out in the first week back. If any outstanding homework books could be handed in by Monday the 3rd that would be greatly appreciated. Children need to continue to learn the spellings featured in the weekly reminders and continue to revise multiplication from the 3 and 4 times tables.

A huge thank you to all of the children who have made wonderful dream catchers. We have made a super display in school so these will be handed back after half term.

Year 4 Week 7 Reminders

Next week is class swap day on Monday so Mr Lambert will be teaching 4J and Mr Parker will be teaching 4L.

Please may we remind parents that on Thursday it is Roman Day. Children may come to school dressed up as a Roman. We are very much looking forward to this. Please can you check you have provided permission for your child to participate on ParentPay.

Have a lovely weekend. Best wishes Mr Lawson and Mrs Jukes.

World Mental Health Day assembly

Today we have marked World Mental Health Day at NJS. We began the day with a special assembly lead by The Guardians of Safety. Please see the attached slides which were shared with the children.

This afternoon, each class has done something a little bit different. They have discussed ‘what fills up their cup’ and then spent time doing these things. Look out for photos on year group website pages!

Important Safeguarding Notice: Children’s “Spy Dog / Spy Pup / Spy Cat” Books

We want to make you aware of a recent issue affecting some popular children’s books by Andrew Cope, including the Spy DogsSpy Cats, and Spy Pups series.

Some editions of these books include a printed web address at the back. This link used to go to the author’s website, but the domain is no longer under his control. It has since been taken over by another party and now leads to inappropriate adult content.

The publisher, Puffin, has paused sales and distribution of the books and is working with schools, libraries, and retailers to remove copies from circulation. They have stressed that the website has no connection to the author or publisher.

What this means for you:

  • If your child has any Spy DogSpy Cat or Spy Pups books at home, please check the back for website links and make sure they do not try to visit the site.
  • It is safe for children to continue reading the stories themselves — the concern is only with the outdated link.
  • We recommend talking with your child about the importance of not following web addresses in books without checking with an adult first.
  • Should you have any questions or require any further support please do not hesitate to contact us at educationsafeguarding@telford.gov.ukWe will continue to share updates from the publisher as more information becomes available.
