The three winning pictures will be our Facebook cover for a week.
Here is this week’s virtual singing workshop. This is the first song of this year’s Big Sing and one that lots of you love – Moana! Here is the link to the unlisted Youtube workshop made especially for the Big Sing by TACT.
I would love to hear how you get on taking part in the workshop!
Have a lovely weekend and keep an eye out next week for the next song workshop…
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you enjoy the recipe for this week… Chilli and Paprika Sausage Rolls! As always, I’ve created a short video to help show some of the process!
PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE AN ADULT SUPPORT/HELP WITH USING THE OVEN, MICROWAVE OR WHEN HANDLING HOT TRAYS. AN ADULT WILL NEED TO SUPPORT OR SUPERVISE WHEN USING KNIVES.
400-500g of sausage meat
Ready rolled puff pastry
A pinch of salt and pepper
1 beaten egg in a bowl
For the following herbs and spices… use ½ or 1 teaspoon.
Garlic Granules
Onion powder
Chilli flakes
Chilli powder
Paprika
Set your oven to 200 degrees, 180 degree (Fan) or gas mark 6.
Set up two baking trays with baking paper. Split your ready rolled pastry in half and one half on each tray. Set these aside until later.
Place the sausage meat into a bowl and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until fully combined.
Add the garlic and onion granules to the mixture. Mix again.
Add the chilli flakes, chilli powder and paprika to the mixture. Give the meat a final mix before forming the sausage rolls.
NOTE: If you do not want to use chilli or paprika, you could try Cajun powder or even a mild curry powder.
Place half of the mixture onto one half of the pastry – in a line in the middle. You may need to spread this along the length of the pastry.
Cover the edges with egg – I use a pastry brush for this part.
Fold over the pastry so that it is covering the sausage meat in the middle. Crimp the edges by pressing down with a fork.
Cut the sausage roll into 8. Move them so they have space between them on the tray.
Using a knife, make a slit on the top of the sausage roll.
Use the beaten egg to egg-wash the top of the sausage roll.
Repeat all these steps using the other half of the pastry.
Place the baking trays into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
If you decide to make these sausage rolls, please do send an e-mail to Eloise.jones@taw.org.uk – I would love to see how they turn out!
I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the children who participated in the first art challenge set. I have had some wonderful pieces of art work sent to me. I would like to share examples from Leah Bodkin and Quinten Bennison Van-Buul who are both from 4NJ. If you would like me to share your art work please send it to:
natalie.jukes@taw.org.uk
I hope you enjoy the Shadow Art task I have set for this week.
Take care everyone and I will look forward to posting my next challenge soon. 🙂
We are really impressed with all the fabulous work you are all doing, and we really enjoy seeing all of this via the year 3 email. Please keep sharing!
The Arts Centre Telford, who provide our music scheme at NJS, are running a virtual Big Sing this term. They will be releasing virtual workshops each week for the children to take part in from home. These will be unlisted Youtube videos and I will post the link on our school website for each one when they are released.
These videos are suitable for all year groups and will provide fun, practical and easy alternative home learning activities that can be done at any time. If anyone would like any extra resources to go with these virtual workshops, please email me (megan.hardy@taw.org.uk).
Please find attached some extra information and the link to the first video, which is a rehearsal of all the songs. Keep an eye out for the first song workshop, which will be shared later this week and is…….. MOANA!
I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying your home learning. I would like to share a new art challenge with you all. This week, I would like us to focus on Shadow Art. Using a torch or a living room light, lamp or even a torch from a mobile phone. Find a dark place in your home, choose your favourite object. Place it on some plain A4 paper and have a go at creating your very own pieces of art by tracing around the shadow.
