Year 5 Spellings and Homework – 7/9/18

Our spellings and homework will start on Friday 14th September. During the next week getting to know your child, we will be working hard to identify which spelling group they are best suited to.
Year 5 homework and Spellings are given out on a Friday and are expected back into school for the following Wednesday. Spelling and timestables test will then take place each Thursday.
Alongside Spellings and timestables homework, the children will be expected to complete a 20/30minute piece of Maths or English, which will either consolidate what they have been learning that week, or prepare them for what they are learning during the following week. This will be explained to the children as it is given and instructions for this will also be on the weekly homework sheet. We ask that you support your child where possible and if the homework is a struggle for your child, the timings above are stuck to, stopping any undue stress (for you or your child) related to homework.
All children at NJS are expected to read at least three times to an adult, having their diary filed in by said adult, each week. As the children have been issued books and have free choice reading books, we ask that the homework this week is a focus upon reading and the completion of their reading diaries.
Thank you for your support

Year 5 spellings and homework

Here are the spellings for this week. Y5 HWK 25.05

Learn you spelling list ready for a test on Thursday.

Take time to practice the 3 and 7 timetables.

This weeks homework relates to the recent work we have done in literacy and the upcoming open lunch on Monday 18th June. We would like you to start thinking about the positives and negatives of using the internet and ‘going online’.

This can be done in many way. You may wish to display your ideas in list form or as a poster. Alternatively you may just wish to have a discussion with family and friends, collecting information you will be ready to share on Monday during our open lunch.

Enjoy your weekend,

Year 5 team

Over this well deserved half term break we would like year 5 to think more about their topic ‘reduce, reuse recycle ‘.

Y5 HWK 25.05

We would like you to look around your home; in the cupboards, the pantry and even the bin and make a table sorting items into a recyclable and non recyclable column.

Hopefully you can find a few extra things that might find their way into the recycling bin in the future.

Also, learn your given spellings and find a definition for each.

Last but not least make sure you have a fantastic week off! lets keep our fingers crossed for sun!

All the best,

Year 5 team

Year 5 Homework 18/5

Please find the attached year 5 homework.

Y5 HWK 18.5

With the exciting celebrations of both the Royal wedding and the Championship final we would like year 5 to engage in these celebrations and take notes on one of the events.

These notes can focus on anything the children wish but should be detailed and in chronological order.

Alternatively, as we understand everyone will not be engaged in these two celebrations, you can make notes on something you did over this weekend.

Have a great weekend,

From the year 5 team.
