This poem was shared in assembly today and we talked about how books can take you anywhere.

I have set a challenge for the children to write their own version of the poem, if they want to have a go.

Each day of the week they can pick a different kind of book to inspire the verse of their poem. Poems to be handed back to Mr R.

Our dressing up day as part of Book Week is a fun and favourite fixture in our school year. This year it is Thursday 2nd March.

There is no intention to ask you to spend large amounts of money to purchase pre-made costumes. The link below, to mumsnet.com, has ideas for cheap and easy book character costume ideas.

We would love all the children to get involved and come in costume. Home-made, simple costumes will be just perfect!

Please can I remind parents to be aware of our Healthy Eating Policy which can be found on the Website and our desire to promote healthy snacks at breaktimes. The following section comes from our policy.

Healthy Break Time Snacks
To promote a healthy lifestyle we encourage the children to have a healthy snack at break time (10.30am) each day. A healthy snack will help to keep hunger pangs at bay till lunchtime and aid concentration in class!
What do we mean by a healthy break time snack?
• Any fresh fruit e.g. apple, grapes, strawberries, tomatoes
• Natural dried fruit e.g. raisons, sultanas, bananas
• Any raw or cooked vegetable e.g. celery or carrot
• Plain bread e.g. breadsticks, soda bread, cracker
What does not constitute a healthy snack?
• Flapjacks or granola bars
• Cereal bars
• Fruit covered in chocolate
• Fruit winders
• Tinned fruit
• Yogurts
• Cakes and biscuits
• Crisps
• Croissants
Parents are requested to send in snacks that comply with this healthy eating policy.
