Yr 6 SATs Workshop – Monday 3rd February

On Monday evening, the Yr 6 team will be hosting a SATs workshop in the school hall. This is a chance for us to share some key information with you about the upcoming KS2 SATs. We will talk through logistics of the tests, the content of the papers, test timings, how the week will be organised for the children & some ideas as to how you can help at home.

Children are welcome to attend with you should you need them to.

Yr 6 & BBS Hub Update – 4th Feb

Thank you to all those who returned their reply slips for our transition work with BBS & Newport Hub.

BBS have informed us that they will be taking their children on Tuesday 4th February.

NJS staff will walk with the children from NJS to the Hub at 3.15pm and we are advising that parents are to collect their children from the Hub between 4pm and 4.15pm. NJS staff will be returning to school to accompany any children who attend the after-school club on site.

BBS have advised that there will be items of food/drink for sale, and that children are welcome to bring some money with them should they wish to purchase anything. We are hoping to have a price list to share with you prior to the event.

If the date/time is no longer convenient, please can we ask that you inform a member of the Yr 6 team so we can have an accurate number of children attending.

Any updates we receive from BBS will be sent home via the website posts.

6J Skills4Bills

6J had a brilliant time at their Skills 4 Bills session last Friday. The workshop was aimed at teaching children about smart financial choices, how debt works and how to be more efficient with spending. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and learned lots about how to be safer with money!

NJS & BBS Visits to Newport Hub

As part of our on-going efforts to work closely together, children in Year 6 at NJS have been invited to attend sessions at Newport Hub alongside children from Yr 7 at BBS. This is a chance for the children to find out more information about what opportunities Newport Hub has to offer, as well and interacting with some children from Yr 7 at BBS.

NJS children will be walked down to the Hub by a member of the Yr 6 team who will remain with them for the full session. Children are then to either walk home (permission will be needed) or collected by a known adult.

The sessions will run from 3.30pm to 4.15pm.

Children will be coming home with a slip today which we ask you to return if you are interested in your child taking part. The dates for the sessions are outlined below. Children will be allocated a session based on the number of slips returned.
