I am sure most of you aware that it has been a tricky couple of weeks at NJS with COVID cases and we send our very best wishes to those who are unwell at this time.

I want to send my sincere thanks to the staff team: I feel very proud to be part of that team.  There have been several occasions over the last couple of weeks where we have had to cancel events due to instruction from the Health Hub.  This has been upsetting for us because we never want to disappoint the children or yourselves.

Before I have been able to deliver disappointing news to the children staff have rallied round and organised a ‘COVID secure’ activity for the children to look forward to in place; they are an incredibly committed team who genuinely have the best interests of the children at heart.  For example Year 6 have had a week of outdoor activity to replicate (in a less challenging way!) some of the experiences they would have had at Arthog and Year 4 next week will be having a ‘themed day’ in place of the pantomime which also involves dressing up!

We notice comments on social media that can be critical and this can be upsetting when we are working so hard at this time.  For example: the Year 6 children did not get lost on their walk to Lilleshall and they certainly never complained of being cold whilst enjoying their games and activities that were organised!

I am very grateful to the commitment of the staff.  We really appreciate the many parents, especially from Years 4 and 6, who have offered their thanks and support to us all: these messages and emails have made a massive difference to the team, thank you.

We have sent some communication out previously about our plans for Christmas performances but I wanted to finalise these with you now.  Dates:

Tuesday 7th December 6pm Year 3 at NJS

Thursday 9th December 2pm Year 4 at NJS: on the playground

Monday 13th December 6.30pm Year 5 at St Nicholas’ Church

Tuesday 14th December 6.30pm Year 6 as St Nicholas’ Church

PLEASE NOTE: If any bubbles have a COVID ‘outbreak’ then performances will need to be ‘cancelled’ and we will advise you of this as soon as we are able.  The alternative will be that full performances will be filmed for you to view from home.  Year groups will also perform highlights of their ‘show’ on the playground at 2pm on the day their performance is planned (the controls outlined below would also apply in the event of an outdoor performance).

GUIDANCE FOR THOSE ATTENDING LIVE PERFORMANCES AT NJS:

*Strictly one adult per NJS child.  STRICTLY NO siblings will be permitted.  Please don’t bring along any siblings as we will unfortunately have to turn you away which will be disappointing for you and your child. (All performances will be filmed and shared as we are aware that many family members would have wished to attend.)

*We ask that no one attends the performance who is displaying COVID symptoms: cough, loss of taste/smell or temperature.

*Please wear a face covering.  (If you are exempt from wearing a face covering please wear a lanyard to indicate this).

*Please sanitise your hands on arrival and sit in the allocated seats as positioned (chairs will be distanced).

*We would prefer that all audience members take an LFT test the day of the performance.

*External doors will be kept open throughout the performance to allow for good ventilation: please dress appropriately as it will feel cool.

*At the end of the performance we ask all audience members to remain in their seat: children will be dismissed to you one:one to avoid any crowding.
