Message from School Council

Dear Parents and Carers

As you are aware, the children of NJS have been unable to do their swimming lessons for the past few months. This is because of the work currently happening which started on the 7 January. All the contractors and workers have worked really hard and are doing an amazing job. This new, amazing swimming pool is getting even better every day – it is going to be fabulous!

We (School Council) were able to visit the pool recently to see the changes that have been made. The contractors are redoing practically everything! We have new windows, doors, floors and walls. We have learnt that the floor sealer used takes one week to go off. On top of this will go a grey flooring which will have resin on top to make it smooth for bare feet. The new windows are triple glazed to keep the warmth in, the walls have already been plaster boarded and plastered. When they are painted the new colour scheme will be white and pale grey. Another of the changes that we talked about is the door being made wider so a wheelchair can fit through.

The pool itself will be the same size as before. Non swimmers please don’t worry about the depth because it will be the same! It has had a new blue lining to help keep it protected. The pool will also have all new filters so it is really important we all wear our swimming caps to make sure the filters are looked after.

Before, there were lots of problems with the pool. It didn’t work properly and the surroundings weren’t always nice. But that is now a thing of the past! Our new pool is going to be amazing. It will be something to be proud of. School Council are also taking responsibility to help Steph keep it clean and new. We are all very excited about when the pool opens in March and can’t wait to get swimming!

Thank you for your support.

Year 3 Science tomorrow

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow, we will be conducting our Disclosing Tablet / toothbrushing experiment in classes across Year 3. Please ensure that your child remembers to bring their toothbrush /paste in a plastic bag if they wish to take part. Also, they MUST return their permission slip, which was sent out by letter last week.

If you require another permission letter, please download and complete the attached letter, or read it and date / sign a homelink message in your child’s homelink book,  giving permission, stating that you have read the contents of the letter attached.

Finally, the date on the letter should read Wednesday 6th February. Apologies for any confusion!

(NB: you MUST state that you have read the contents of the letter if you are sending a homelink. Thanks!)

Computing Club Spring Term 2019

Dear Parents,

Boys who registered their interest for Computing Club on a Thursday should have brought home a small homelink message today, to say that they are welcome to attend. The club is now FULL. All children who registered an interest have been offered a place.

Club takes place in the ICT room in the Year 3 block on the playground. If you are picking up your child, please wait outside the Year 3 block at 4:30pm.  Thank you.

Boys Computing Club (Thursdays) – apologies

Dear Parents,

Unfortunately, due to the large number of replies generally, I was unable to finalise a number of children for computing club, for which I apologise.

The maximum number of boys I can take will be 20. Any unsuccessful children will be automatically put forward to the Summer club, which is open to boys and girls.

Any children who asked to attend will bring home a slip, informing you whether there is space for them to attend, by the end of Tuesday.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Regards,

Mr Butler.

Collection Tomorrow

Year 2 are joining us tomorrow afternoon for our Celebration Assembly.  They will be dismissed from the playground at 3.25pm.

We just wanted to make you aware that the playground will be busier than usual and to ask that you allow year 2 parents to collect before NJS is dismissed at 3.30pm.

Thank you!
