Burton Borough School have asked us to let you know that this year they will be conducting a virtual open evening on the 6th October.  More information will follow.

We ask for your support in following guidance and keeping our school community safe.

Please remember that if your child has a cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell they must remain at home and a PCR test should be booked.  If a negative result is received then they will be able to return to school.

If your child has a cold with other symptoms such as a sore throat we do ask that a PCR test is booked as a precaution (you can select ‘Local Authority request’ when booking online).  The guidance states that they can still attend for school in this circumstance whilst they await a result.  In this scenario please be vigilant around any developing symptoms and consider if your child is well enough to attend for school.

Please remember that gates will not open until 8.45am so we politely request that you do not arrive too early.  Children need to arrive at school between 8.45am and 8.55am.  If you have a sibling at Newport Infant School the expectation is that you drop off at NJS first and then the Infant School next.

Collection is from 3.15pm until 3.25pm.  If you have a child to collect from Newport Infants please collect them first and then come to NJS to collect from ourselves.

Please remember all exits and entrances to NJS are through car parks and we ask that you carefully supervise children.  We have tried very hard to communicate that vehicles should not enter or leave car parks at the start or end of the day but we still ask that everyone is cautious.

Please can we remind you that children are very welcome to bring a snack to enjoy at breaktime but they should be healthy.

We request that snacks are ideally fresh or dried fruit, raw or cooked vegetable or bread based such as bread sticks for example.

Please can we ask our school community to be considerate and safe with their travel to school arrangements.  We have had reports today of cars mounting pavements and parking inappropriately putting our children at risk.

Please be mindful that the roads local to NJS are busy at the start and end of the school day and the priority should be the safety of the pupils.  We politely request that you walk to school or park safely in a local car park (Specsavers or Shuker Field are recommended) and then walk to school site.
