Year 4 Bulletin
National Refugee Week 2022
Refugee Week is an annual festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees. This year’s theme is healing.
We All Have the Right to be Safe
We believe that everyone deserves a home and has the right to seek safety for themselves and their families.
Children at NJS will be marking this festival by watching some short films about young people who have taken refuge in Britain and the journey they went on to get here, completing some ‘healing’ activities together and by doing some art work inspired by the illustration below.
The illustration marking Refugee Week 2022 is by Nima Javan, a painter specialising in traditional Persian art and contemporary abstract art. Nima’s current work is inspired by ‘Persian miniatures’, using characters found in traditional paintings as well as his own creations. Originally from Quchan in North East Iran, Nima sought refuge in the UK in 2019.
Year 4 Homework
Dear Year 4 Parents and Guardians,
We will be sending paper copies of the year 4 homework out tomorrow, along with the children’s homework books. We kindly ask if homework could return no later than Monday the 18th of July.
Kindest regards the Year 4 team 🙂
Year 4 Library Visits
Each of the Year 4 classes will be visiting Newport Library over three afternoons next week.
The children will walk to the Library with school staff, enjoy using the Library and return to school.
We do not need anything for this visit but just wanted to let you know! We are looking forward to it!
Year 4
4J at The Wolseley Wildlife Cente
4J thoroughly enjoyed their trip to The Wolseley Centre yesterday. 4J learnt many facts about the river Trent. The children enjoyed participating in nature art & pond dipping too.
HTA at Beech’s Base on Tuesday next week
All children that have received a Head Teacher’s Award this week and the last few weeks, are invited to have their lunch at Beech’s Base on TUESDAY next week.
See you there.
Thanks
Mrs Bold and Mrs Yates
