Spelling homework due 10th October

To support with understanding definitions for spellings, the ‘Collins Children’s Cobuild Dictionary’ is a very useful tool. There is an online version available.

Due to the changes in the Literacy curriculum children in Year 6 are expected to be secure with all KS2 spellings. There will be no choice of spellings, in terms of degree of difficulty. All children, of all abilities, need to learn the following for next week:

business certain
enough February
forwards guide
naughty popular
strength various

There is one word that requires a capital but the others MUST have lower case letters!

Homework due 10th October

Read at least 3 times and ask an adult to sign your reading diary to confirm.

Complete the times tables activity. This is not a gird activity, there are a handful of random times table questions to solve.

Learn your spellings. Complete detailed sentences and definitions in your homework book.

Complete the activity on subordinate clause sentences. This is a one star, two star, three star activity, therefore, your child has chosen a challenge.

Subordinate clauses start with a subordinating conjunction. The children have been using I SAW A WABUB to help them remember some of the most common conjunctions:if, since, as when, although, while, after, before, until, because

Mindfulness Club Tomorrow

Mindfulness Club is on tomorrow (Wednesday 3rd) after school 3.30 – 4.15.

Children are welcome to bring comfy clothes to change into if they don’t want to stay in their uniform, but they must get get changed very promptly at the end of the day! They can also bring a yoga mat (or similar), blanket, cushion or notebook if they want to. The children do not need to bring any of these things, but some of them like to! It’s fine either way.

Pick up from outside the hall at 4.15. Children must let me know if they have signed up for Mindfulness but are not able to come tomorrow, otherwise we will have to ring to check their whereabouts! They can pop to my classroom at break or lunch to tell me.
